Any thoughts or experience regarding pocket lint accumulating in spare mag causing jams? A lot of us carrying on a daily basis use the front pocket to store an extra mag.

Get a pouch. The best way to deal with pocket lint is to use compressed air on it. While I have never seen it cause a jam in a magazine it will find its way into your gun and could cause a problem.

I'm also constantly cleaning my pocket of lint, I use an electric depiller as soon as my pants come out of the dryer.

Pocket mag holders...,

With the increase of CCW holders and more pistols, many holster makers started to bring out pocket magazine holders. The DeSantis Nemnesis is impressive. The sticky, tacky synthetic material helps hold the semi auto magazine in place + protect it from lint, grit, dirt, sweat, etc. The holder also breaks up the magazine outline to aid concealment.
Sticky Holsters, www.stickyholsters.com of south Florida has 1/2 style pistol magazine pocket holsters. The prices are high either. Vendors and online sites have cheaper prices.

My wife asked me the same question who pocket carries a TCP. I told her best test is to shoot with pistol/magazine built up with lint.

So far, no issues but I still clean the pistol/magazines on a regular basis.

Sneaky Pete has magazine sleeves for pocket carry.

Invert you pockets when you put them in the dryer, and blow any accumulated lint out of your gun with some canned air, once a week.

A friend of mine did a test with a Sig P238 about six months ago. After 3 solid months of pocket carry in a desantis pocket holster, he drew and fired the gun, emptying it. No failures. YMMV.

I don't like seeing the lint buildup so I blow gun and mags clean with compressed air.
One time I got home and found a quarter firmly stuck in with the top round in my extra mag. No change in with the mag. I'll put keys in that pocket but no change.

Good luck shouldn't be mistaken for good practices.

Every day millions of Americans walk around their lives unarmed, not even owning a gun. Just because only of few of them will die from their indiscretions each day, does that make it a good practice? No.

If you're not going to take care of your life saving equipment why even go through all the expense, inconvenience and work of carrying it?

INHO there is no substitute for actually carrying your pistol and any spare mags and then shooting them at increasingly longer intervals to verify function. Then you will know if and when it becomes a problem. After carrying for a year and emptying without issues I stopped worrying about it as I like to cycle my carry ammo at least once a year.

My wife turns the pockets inside out when putting pants in the dryer to help them dry faster. One benefit I have noticed is the reduced amount of lint or anything else that collects in the pockets. This is the first time I have actually connected the benefit of doing it for an ammo mag, but I already noticed it helped otherwise.

I've got one of these for both my LC9s and my Glock 36 mags. Great product. Holds the mag in place and oriented for a quick "draw" while protecting it from pocket lint, etc.

I've seen several pistols jam up tight due to a tiny scrap of paper, probably from a receipt, making its way into a magazine, then feeding in with the cartridge.

By jam up tight, I'm talking about banging the slide on a hard surface with up to body weight on it.

I carry spare magazines in magazine holders, not loose in pockets.

I've used the Comp Tac and Crossbreed pouches and both are high quality, the Crossbreed is thicker and more supportive. The Comp Tac has better clips, I've combined the two.

I clean lint out of my pistol weekly, however I leave it in the hollow points. I figure if I just nick them they might die of infection!

It is still a good practice to clean out spare magazines carried in a pouch in a pocket, as well as firearms carried IWB. I did a through cleaning of my current carry last night. Spare magazine is pocket carried inside a Desantis mag packer. There was all sorts of dirt, dust, dog hair (have two) and lint, even in the supposedly "protected" magazine.
