Point shooting and old movies

A point that is not brought up with the speed shooters is the low powered loads that they use. Have them use standard pistols with plus P loads and they will slow down significantly due to increased recoil.

Not true.

IDPA and IPSC/USPSA require a minimum of minor power factor of 125. That isn't very far from everyday 9mm which is about 130-135 PF which is considered an acceptable LEO load. BTW most of the minor shooters load to 130-135 to make sure they make minor when chronographed. Many/most of the IDPA/IPSC folks are shooting Major PF which now varies but is around 165-170 PF. Similarly the major shooters tend to load to 170-175 to make sure. Neither the minor or major loads are low powered loads. If you want low powered loads you should look at Steel Challenge and PPC.

This is DeNiro in the film. Nothing wrong here. Go about 30 seconds in.

And modern classic for point shooting ... A LOT ... John Wick 1/2/3 and soon 4 (2021)

And for those in disbelief, yes he is wearing body armor

The op may have been referring the type of shooting that was common in older movies where the actor shoves the gun back and forth as they shoot. In the vid below we can see an example of that 51 seconds into the vid and again 2 minutes, 5 seconds. The great Jimmy Cagney gets to show us how.

I said in an earlier post that this was film shooting and not something that anyone (an official someone) taught as a method of shooting. Though watch Cagney and many others shoot this way in the movies and TV did teach a lot of kids how to "bang, bang" while playing in the backyard.
