That florida statute ...
Seems only to apply in cases where the person with the money knew or should have known that it was the fruit of illegal activity.

I may be missing it, but I see nothing that would prevent Daddy Warbucks from driving around with one BEEEELLLION dollars in his Hummer.
Delta608, this appears to be correct. All you quoted was a definistion of "knowing." The actual operational part of the law only makes transporting more than $10,000 a crime if the transporter knew or should have known that the money was from an illegal act.

If it were otherwise, any business owner carrying more than $10,000 to the night depository after closing up shop would be violating the law on an almost daily basis.

Since everyone seems so blase about a million dollars on a cop, I wonder how deep the rabbit hole goes ? Do most cops in drug-filled areas make millions in kickbacks and backroom deals ? Is there simply just too much drug money and tax money floating around to declare any organization not corrupt up to its eyeballs ? Am I missing out on millions of dollars just because I don't have a job where I can betray the taxpayers ?

Maybe it's best I don't know anything.

All of the above should be investigated. If actual evidence of wrongdoing is found (witnesses, evidence of actions of corruption in enforcing laws etc) then the money will be evidence. But until that time, it's just money.
