Happened in Longview Texas.

She was bi-polar and I guess trying to commit suicide by cop.

She told the cop who came to talk to her she had a gun on her.

They had struggle. His mistake I think was he let her back up after he took her to the ground. Should have kept her on the ground.

As other cops showed up he tassed her but to no effect.

She pulled a butcher knife and charged one of them and the shot her.

I don't know what the heck this bit is about.

However, the story here doesn't seem to have anything to do with ST&T, at least not for a citizen's perspective self-defense forum.

Perhaps it could be said that a police officer has some duty to try and not give a "suicide-by-cop" case the benefit of fulfillment, but no citizen should be thinking very long about how to deal with someone attacking them with a knife.
