I recently canabalized a lower for my pistol build and removed, among other parts, the RRA Varmint trigger i had installed. After finding the parts combo I wanted through PSA what was left over included their EPT trigger with which I was previously familiar.
This week I opted to re-finish the parted-out lower using the PSA LPK and a set of JP yellow springs which yielded something akin to a 3 1/2 lb. two-stage with absolutely no grit. Initial take up is light, maybe 1/2 a pound and measures around 3/16” rearward (I know it’s creep and single-stage but there is slight spring pressure and no discernible drag) followed by a crisp break with minimal overtravel.
When I purchased a complete lower from PSA I believe the upcharge for an EPT was $10 or $179.99 for the enhanced MOE EPT version. Spending another $8 on JP springs therefore garners you a very livable trigger for under $20 that’s been nickel coated after polishing (unlike a home job that can leave you with no hardening). Hard to beat if you don’t need competition grade/reduced lock time/etc. performance.
