I'd rather spend a few extra dollars and buy the gun from my local shop, than have it shipped in from someone else. The only time I'd do that is if it was a discontinued model and I had to scour for it.

Shows, chain stores when they're cheap, my friendly local FFL. Not in that order.

When the difference starts getting over $100 (hasn't happened yet), I'd start looking online and have it transferred in.

I buy mostly at gun shows.
Big selection and far better prices than in stores.

That's not to say that I don't buy a lot of guns from the local small gun store, but I know I'm usually paying as much as a $100 more than I can get the same gun at a gun show.

Depends on availability and price.

hmmmm... Looks like there needs to be another option. Depends on availability and price.

I prefer to buy at my local shop, that is where I picked up my Ruger, but I have bought online (gunbroker). Why? Because gunbroker had the Marlin I wanted, and my local shop did not. For my next purchase, I'll be going gunbroker again, because the price on the rifle I want is more than $100 cheaper than my local shop can get it.

I WILL buy my ammo and accessories from the gunshop, but a significant price difference and availability of what I want will force me to go elsewhere.

In this order, I prefer a face-to-face private sales with no .gov paperwork, local FFL/shop, local show and then online sales.

Having said that, I have purchased the majority of my arms online because my local shops don't have what I am looking for. Mostly specific C&R stuff I get with my license. This is of course taking into account cost. I'd pay a little more (10-15%) at a local shop but that's about it. Most of my range ammo purchases are done at shows because I like to buy in bulk but my defense loads I buy from my local shops.

Face to face at a gunshow (Pvt sale)
This lets me handle and inspect the gun, but avoids pesky paperwork.

That said, I ordered a gun off of Gunbroker and one from AIM (C&R) in the last 2 weeks.

I prefer to buy guns, new, at local shops, but I also prefer to have them order one for me from their distributor. I don't want to buy a gun that might have been handled and possibly abused (maybe dropped) by someone who just goes to gun stores to fondle the guns and doesn't really have the means and/or ambition to actually buy one. Factory fresh is what I like.

I strongly prefer to hold and inspect a firearm before purchase. Something visceral about it. I'm also a big believer in supporting the local store because it sure is nice to be able to just "drop by" and pick up odds n' ends.

Where ever i can get the best deal that's
where i'am buying from.On-line,on-line,
local gun shop and local FTF is how i've
purchased my last 4 guns.I don't want to
limit myself to just one source when good
deals can be found almost everywhere if
you look for them.

My preference would be to buy locally, support a local business and have a local point of contact in case something went wrong.

In the real world, most of the guns I want are never available locally, or even if they are, they are priced way too much.

Support you local gun store. If you normally buy on-line or at show, try to buy at least 1 or 2 every year from the local guy!!!

Maybe it’s just me but normally I have to touch/inspect the goods first. I have purchased online but wanted something used that was out of production and not common. I usually shy away from this because some people’s description of condition and mine will differ greatly.

I've never bought a gun online, but that will probably change now that I've got a C&R.

I was going to buy a Mosin this past weekend at a local show. One of the dealers had some nice looking ones, for about the same price as online, with no shipping of course. I asked one of the guys a question. He answered it giving me one of those "What kind of idiot are you?" looks. Then he left. We looked around, came back, stood around 15 mins or so. Never could get anyone to get up and come over. They were too busy chit-chatting, or whatever. I'm not going to hollar and ask "HEY YOU WANT TO COME SELL ME SOMETHING?" I left my money in my wallet and went on home. (Then they wonder why people go to the internet.)

Other than C&R stuff though, I'll probably just look locally.

I buy at both stores and gun shows. I like the idea of holding and checking out each firearm before purchasing. The gun show held every month in WPB is a good place to find a deal. I got my PT140 MilPro for $329 and my latest CZ RAMI 2075 .40 for $490.
