I just picked up my long awaited for Springfield Champion Operator YAY! First thing I did when I got home was try to install my Streamlight M6 TLI (tactical laser illuminator) and it fits very poorly. Has about a 1/16th inch play in all directions. Moves up, down and side to side. This light/laser fits on every picatinny rail Ive ever put it on perfectly. I figure the rail on the Springfield would be spec'd the same as all other picatinny rails right?

What gives? Who has a light on their 1911 and what kind of gun /light combo works?

I have a Surefire X300 on my Kimber Warrior. Surefire's installation instructions state to install the Picatinny plate, fully tighten the screws that hold the rail guides on, and then back off the rail guide screws one turn each. Next, install the light, put a drop of Loctite 242 Thread Locker (included) on the threads of each screw, and tighten the rail guide screws to the individual weapon. Does your Streamlight manual have any instructions for adjusting the unit to individual weapons to account for manufacturing variances?

Possible problems with a Springfield? That's blasphemy to some! I'll sit back and eat some popcorn on this one...:D
