Can't afford a NFA Auto Rifle... How about a Full Auto BB gun ;)

The Drozd is made in Russia by IZH-Baikal. It uses a standard 12-gram CO2 cartridge and six AA batteries. There are three switches to operate the unique select-fire mechanism. The first one turns on the gun. The second one selects the firing mode: semi-auto (one shot with each pull of the trigger), three-round burst (full-auto) or six-round burst (full-auto). The third switch controls the burst rate: 300 rounds per minute, 450 rounds per minute or 600 rounds per minute.

The gun comes with a detachable shoulder stock (increases length by 5.75"), scope rail, sights, one 30-round magazine and a BB loader. The magazine holds the ammo and the CO2 cartridge. This black Russian wonder is great as an all-day plinker. If you'd like to mount a pistol scope or red dot, that's easy enough with the 11mm dovetails.

Price isn't too bad. $219.50

I think that might be legal in the uk but not for long :D
I've always wanted to be in the arms trade
email to baikal on the way :D

and now for the problems.

I have one of these and yes, they are fun to shoot... now for the bad news. It is a pain to load the 30 BBs each time. They do have a device for it and it works, but it is more work to put the BBs in than the amount of time to get them out.

The CO2 cartridge gets about 160 rds out before replacing.... But the shots degrade quickly until they are just dribbling out the end. The highest mode is 6 shots at a time. It also eats batteries.

The shots also are not that strong. They will go through an Aluminum can, but other things they bounce off of.

But, it is fun to shoot. I just wish it used a 10 oz bottle tank and a hopper full of BBs

Pyramidair.com sells the Drozd with a bulk fill adapter and a 12oz or 20oz co2 tank(the tank functions as a stock the way they made it). They also sell a suppressed version(non removable to comply with the NFA), and sell a bulk fill kit separately. Unfortunately no one makes a hopper feed adapter, maybe someone who likes tinkering could take a whack at it.

Unfortunately the site is down right now, I was just on the site last night... probably just temporary.

They also accept orders and answer questions by phone, the number is 888-262-GUNS.

I've ordered from a few times before, and they've never given me any reason not to do business with them again.

I'd rather have a P3 Strafer.

A bit ugly, but I'm sure some tinkering could fix that.

Airguns are firearms in law. Although an ordinary airgun requires no permit to possess, firearms (including airguns) that are designed to fire more than one shot without repeated pressure to the trigger are prohibited weapons under section 5 of the Firearms Act 1968. Possession of such a weapon, on conviction, carries a minimum sentence of five years in prison.

I remember as a kid a friend who had a full-auto BB gun. It used a can of freon for power and near as I could tell, just had a giant chamber full of BBs with a small smoothbore tube/exit that it blew them out of. Power wasn't great - it wouldn't penetrate an aluminium soda can at 10'; but it was cutting edge technology at the time :)

Called a "LARC." They didn't last too long under heavy use.

It's definitely something I wish I'd had when I was 12, although mine is the old canary yellow version. It's got some oomph to it, especially if you go lead rounds instead of steel BB's, but I tend to stay away from the six round burst, high rpm settings. Battery life has been fine for me, but 12 gram Co2 carts go like 90 rounds tops in my experience. And:

?

More like: Short, narrow, fiddly little plastic dovetail that runs about two inches foreward from the rear sight is a total pain to clamp anything to. Getting a Daisy electronic point sight on there is a procedure.

Still, it's the cheapest burst fire mail order SMG experience around. I think I need a black one.

Oh for heavens' sake!

My Uncle took a piece of PVC pipe, capped both ends drilled one cap out to take a short line for air in, a longer line for BBs out and a capped hole to fill in the BBs. Put the whole mess in a package that looked like what he called a 'Ma Duece' and used a common air compressor. Then he managed to scavenge the compressor from a semi tractor and put it on his pickup engine, installed an air tank made from an old propane cylinder in the bed of the truck and mounted the thing on a pipe that fit on the ball hitch in the center of the bed. I don't remember the range or the power but he spent maybe $20 on the whole mix. But then my uncles' motto was growing old is mandatory but growing up is optional.

Well, you could buy 5 Drozd for the same money, so........

I remember the LARC. My dad had one before they got banned (in the UK) and while it was cheap and nasty, it was a mess of fun :)
