Portable takedown target stand

Hope this is the right section to post this, couldn't find any other place.

As Wife and I go shooting at different places out in the desert, decided to make a portable takedown shooting stand.

Now this is nothing fancy, just a functional target stand on the cheap, I dug through my metal scrap pile and used what I had at hand. It could be improved in many ways to make it more aesthetic, but has worked so well, I have never seen fit to change it.

Parts consist of 1/2"x24" rebar grade stakes, 1 1/4"x18" thin wall CL fence top rail, 1/4"x16" all thread and wing nuts.

Looks like a winner to me. Simple but quite effective.

I had one that was made of a piece of 1/2 round stock bent to form an upside down "U" with a horizontal section that was about 24" long. Had some of those orange urethane targets hanging on it. The problem was they didn't hang down very far. A couple high shots from the AR put an end to that stand.

Yours would be less susceptible to that and is more easily transported. Nice work.

Yup. My personal favorites are the plasticized cardboard yard signs - especially political ones.

Thought of that, but did not want to drag around something of that size, this just goes into a tote bag and is set up in a couple minutes.

The only way the RE sign could be cheaper, is if it was stolen, and that could get one shot around here.

That's a rather clever target stand you made. Rather cheap if you have the parts sitting around.

Unless you get a free one that is faded and doesn't look nice anymore.
