As long as people are safe with their fire arms, I don't care why they bought them or in what manner they shoot them. If they can't hit the paper from 7 yards and have no desire to become any better, that's OK with me. If they just go to the range because they like the loud noise every time they pull the trigger, that's fine too.
I know absolutely nothing about motorcycles. I could name a few brands but zero models. Without knowing it, I probably have some misconceptions about them from seeing them in movies and on TV. But I'm getting ready to take a basic class so I can at least figure out how to make the things go forward. In the eyes (and ears) of the professional teaching the course, I'm sure that I will ask some question that is completely ridiculous. I'd like to think that instead of them thinking I am a jackass that they will see me for what I am, a beginner.
In any new sport/hobby/undertaking, you have to start somewhere. Buying a gun and putting 1,000 rounds downrange the first day is a heck of a start. If you aren't willing to mentor these people (and there is no need for you to undertake this task) perhaps you could look up a basic pistol course or NRA safety course in the area and pass along the info to these new shooters.
