Everyone seems to be having fun with the previous challenge
Post your targets - The 15 yard pistol challenge
So to celebrate the warming weather I thought I'd throw a new challenge out for y'all to chew on.

Post Your Targets - The "Weak Hand" Pistol Challenge.

1) Download the standard target. from here and print it out. (Warning, PDF)
2) Post the target at 30ft (10 yards).
3) Shoot 10 rounds from the pistol of your choice (I'm trusting you to honestly report any fliers :D )

The catch to this one is that you must shoot the pistol
-One handed, with your weak hand, unsupported.

This challenge may be shot at any speed you choose.

There it is. Have fun!

LOL - I just started training with my left hand...I am AWFUL with it. I don't think i've hit the 8" shoot-n-c @ 15yards yet even once. I wish my range had closer targets :( My friend has a set of israeli star 9mm that he loves to fire akimbo, and he's actually able to hit things...
Looking forward to being amazed by some off-hand shooters :D

Goign to the range after work today to shoot a Walther P22 I got last week, so I'll take a couple along for fun; I may or may not post. ;) While I'm generally a poor shot with this P22 (because the trigger break is too close to the palm of my hand, making my grip on the gun generally uncomfortable - long fingers and a big hand will do that I guess), at least I seem to shoot better single-handed than I do with supported shots. I'm not sure why that is, but there you have it.

OK, I'll start it off, but I messed up already, I shot 12 rounds.

I haven't shot this 2 3/4 inch Ruger Security Six in over five years. I took it out of the truck this morning to give it a cleaning (it's my truck gun). So this is a good time to see if it's still on.:)
I used 38 Special, .357 is too hard on my pistol backstops.

Most of the time when I shoot left handed I shoot left eye also, just to make it more challenging.:)

Nice shootin! If others follow your example I'm gonna have to make future challenges more... challenging <grin>.

Taurus Gaucho SAA in .357 Magnum. This is easily my worst shootin' iron. Not because the gun is bad but because I can't see the darned black iron sights indoors so I'm basically "instinct shooting" with this one.

Anyway here it is...

Awesome...round II, and I am all healed following that surgery! Time to contribute!

Finally went to the range!! Sorry though, didn't shoot exactly ten rounds. Here are some pics. Smith and Wesson 586 shooting .38's at 10 yards.

M2 Carbine,
it doesn't look like you have a weak hand, that is some darn good shooting.

i will be in on this challenge too when the xd gets fixed!

Ooh, looks good... I like 1-handed shooting, but I'll only be able to post results next tuesday... :(

Yep.
He has set the standard for us for sure. Can't wait to try this. Maybe this weekend.

I have not shot weak hand in a while. ZeSpectre....You caught me napping.....:)

Thanks, but I'm kind of cheating.:)
I probably shoot weak handed more than many shooters.
Age is catching up to me (69) and whenever my right hand is less than steady I shoot left handed and left eye.

Well, I got to go to the range today. I chronoed 3 9MM loads in three guns and 6 .45 loads in one gun.

BUT FIRST I shot my new to me 586 in the offhand challenge. I shot two groups, the second one being about 25% better than the first and 4 shots pretty well grouped. I suspect I pulled the two shots down. Getting used to the gun I guess. I shot one strong hand to see what the gun would do and it was just fine. A hair under 2 inches vertical and 3/4 inch side to side. The gun will shoot. The vertical was surely all me. Can't wait to shoot this one some more. Shot some pins with it too. Lots of fun...:) ...No....:D

Oh crap! I cheated - didn't see the 30' range until after getting back from the range. I shot both strong hand and weak hand (bullseye style) today both at 50', 10 rounds each using my Kimber Pro Carry II 4" (45 acp). I can't tell if I missed once with the weak hand or if there's a funny looking double (I wrote on the target so you can help me figure it out). It's easier to see on the real target, but on the questionable double there's a funny smudge above the first(?) hole. Hmmm... *takes a closer look* ok, I'm calling it a double, but you're welcome to disagree with me.

The strong hand target was using 200 grain cast SWC over 5.0 gr Win 231. I wasn't sure if that load was going to cycle properly so I only made 10 - it worked great. For my offhand, I figured it would be more of a challenge if I used factory hardball, so that's what I did.

I was using plain black iron sights and I had to close one eye (hangs head in shame). I sighted with the right eye for both strings. While using the left hand, I reloaded by placing the pistol between my knees and inserting the new mag with using my right hand at all as a drill.

Both targets were shot slow fire.

I was actually thinking of selling this one a couple months ago because I couldn't hit anything with it. About a month ago I made it to the range and spent some quality time unlearning my horrible flinch - gently squeeze the trigger, we don't care what else happens, just a little more gentle squeeze, CRACK, oh wow, we hit the target! Yeah, I'm a little excited about my progress.

Ok, I forgot to bring the target I printed out to the range, so I had to use one of theirs.

This one is single hand only, strong hand 6rds to body and then w/ the weak hand 6rds to the head of the target (hard to tell in pic, but think the upper left was a double), both from the same 15yd distance.

I was in a hurry to get into my IDPA practice, so didn't want to load a second mag...

Oh, this was w the Glock 19 (9MM) w/ WWB

Functional, looking to improve...

These are a bit humbling.

My left eye doesn't seem to see as well as the right, and my one hand hold is not as steady as it used to be.:cuss:

weak hand unsupported

first is left hand, left eye smith 65-2 second is smith 442 with ct grips both eyes

I'm right handed and shoot left handed due to not only a left side dominant eye, but poor vision even corrected on the right. So both sides are weak side for me, if shooting one handed. I'm a glass half empty kind of guy, I guess.;)

Anyway, the gun is a Beeman P3 .177 pistol. Obviously slow fire.

First, the right hand alone, which would be strong hand, weak eye.

Next left hand, weak hand, strong eye.

Lastly, both hands left handed, the way God intended me to shoot.
