I was looking at a Mossberg pump action 8 round 12guage with a pistol grip only in a pawn shop the other day. It looked pretty nice, had some slight wear marks from where it looked like it was in a rack, but the action worked well and didn't show too much wear. The barrel was a bit dry, but looked fairly new. It had a small brass knob as a front sight.

When I felt inside the barrel, there you could feel the front sight slightly bump downwards into the barrel around .5mm or so... is this bad?

Would a slug blow this thing wide open?

Is $199 too much to pay for it or even haggle down on?

Thanks!!

PS, I don't know much about scatter guns...

They also have a new-in-the-box .50 DE for $1175....

It probably won't blow up the shotgun and you, but the bead base shouldn't stick down like that.

$200 is on the high end of what it's worth, especially since you need to put a real stock on it.

Mossies are good shotguns. With a stock, this would make a nice HD and 3 gun shotgun for informal competition.

It also should get a metal safety button, a minor thing.

AFAIK Mossberg is still drilling and tapping holes for brass beads on their barrels. The threaded shaft on this one might be a bit long and protrude into the bore, but if it worries you it would be easy to remove it and shorten it up a bit.

Lose the pistol grip, get a real stock.

Seems a bit high priced to me too, but I'm spoiled. I wait for really good deals before another Cinderella follows me home. Or not... :^) .

In that condition and with only a pistol grip? $135. The stocked model, NEW runs $200.

It's almost impossible to hit much past a few yards with only a pistolgrip, and they're painful to shoot.
