Powder and Primer recommendation for 357Mag and 45LC (Possibly 44Mag)

One of the best powders for these calibers, from medium to good and hot is VV N110. Its biggest drawback is price. Maybe as much as 2X 2400. But its clean flexible and accurate. 18-19 gr behind a 270gr bullet in the 45C can show some interesting groups at 100 yd.

Far be it for me to disagree with rcmodel.
He says 2400 & standard primers.

But I've had much more consistent ammo using magnum primers in my .357.
Accuracy & standard deviation across my chronograph is MUCH better using
Fed Small Pistol Magnum Primers vs Tula or CCI standard primers (and 2400 powder).

Maybe disagreeing with rc just shows my idiocy :scrutiny: :what:

But rather than taking anyone's word for it, ya'll would be better off trying it out for yourself.

Just my 2¢ worth.

Personally, I use 3 powders for these 2 cartridges: HS-6, 2400, and 4227. While 4227 leaves some unburned "kernels" after firing, I have found it to produce some very accurate loads.
