I have about 1000 200gr LSWC around I use in my .45ACP for practice. Just got a 45LC (Ruger) and was wondering how the 200gr LSWC does? Most everything I see recommends 250gr LRN. Will use with WIN231 since I have pounds of it for my other handgun cartridges.

Thanks,
Hawk

If you have a Ruger Blackhawk with adjustable sights, they should work fine.

If you have a Vaquaro with fixed sights, they won't shoot where the sights are looking.

Depending on your die expander plug, you may have to whittle it down a little to get good neck tension with .451" .45 ACP bullets.

My standard bullet for the .45 Colt is a 200 grain RNFP. It's cheap to shoot, accurate and works in my gun. Besides, I have the mold for my Magma Master Caster and can make them by the thousands..........

Hope this helps.

nice

The 200 gr. LSWC is a nice, mild loading in the 45 Colt. Since most LSWCs are .452" you should be OK seating and crimping. six or seven grains of Bullseye or maybe eight or nine grains of Unique will do it. Should be about 900 fps or so.

I have never loaded a 200gr SCW in my .45 Colt, mostly because I load a 230gr bullet for my .45 Auto so I don't have 200gr bullets available. I have loaded many 230gr bullets in my .45 Colt and they work just fine. I see no reason why 200gr SWC wouldn't work just as well. Hey, those 255gr SWC bullets cost a lot and the 200gr SWC, well, not so much... I also use W231 for a lot of my .45 Colt ammo, it should work well with the lighter bullets.

I cast the 45 lswc for my acp and size em at .452. Thought I'd try em in my 45 ruger vaquero and black hawks. Also in my mod 92 lever gun. All worked out just fine. Decided to stay with 200 grain rnfp tho as my lever gun cycles them quicker and I don't want to have to have seperate ammo as I use the rugers and lever gun in sass. As to your ? they will work fine.

I have beens shooting thousand of lswc in .45 Colt. I use 6.0 Red Dot, up to 6.8 and low of 5.7. Red Dot because I bought an 8# jug at the beginning of the "shortage". Shoot Rugers and S&Ws. Accurate out to 50 yds with my loads.

Data I have says 231 minimum 6.8 around 775 fps, max 8.3 around 998. I'd look in the 7.5 range to start and see how they shoot.

Red Dot burns clean for me. I've been trying some Universal Clays and it doesn't. Lots of unburnt powder.
