Any one know of a source for powder flask springs.
I’m starting to build a collection of useless powder
flasks with broken springs. Three of them now.
I’ve a set of spouts 10 to 60 grains so hate to just chuck them and stay with Lee measures.
An email to CVA has gone unanswered.
Can they be shop made. ?

I just received a new Colt revolver flask in the mail. The dark lacquered copper one with the artillery piece and flags embossed on it.
I was surprised to see that it was made by or for Davide Pedersoli, in Italy of course.
(DP 523-36) with the small .36 caliber spout. Presumably the .44 caliber spout number would be (DP 523-44), not that it would matter for the spring.
My old 1972 Colt revolver flask has a small diameter spring, while the Pedersoli one has a large diameter spring.
My guess is that the large diameter spring is less likely to break.
It looks like several of their flasks use the same top assembly and spring.
So, if yours is a large spring type, a Pedersoli spring might work.

Unfortunately, no flask parts are listed on their website.

Looked at Track of the Wolf and both springs are listed under:
(Accessories>Powder Flasks>Parts, levers and springs for Powder Flasks)

Price is $3.99 for either, but the large size is out of stock right now.

The spring on this CVA looks to be between 7/16 to 15/16 in diameter. Can you measure yours. It’s not a perfect circle however but a coil with a tail extending into the lever.

In place, while in the closed valve position, it measures about 1" at the widest point and about 15/16" at the narrowest.

I am reluctant to try to remove it to measure it without any tension because I am concerned about breaking the pin.

The Pedersoli spring measures 1 1/4" at the widest point and 1 1/8" at the narrowest, also in place and in the closed valve position.

Scrutinizing the T of W picture of the small valve spring and comparing it to my old flask spring, it looks like a match, including the position of the pin.

How many different Italian makers and springs for Colt style flasks can there be?
It might not fit, but for the price it's worth including one in an order from them.

Lots of nice stuff on their website to include to make a small order worth the shipping. :)

Hey, new guy here; saw this thread while searching for flask spring info and decided to jump in. Looks like it's been a few months since this thread was active, but what the heck.

I recently broke the spring on my Pedersoli flask that I got from my Dad in the 80's; pretty sure he had it since the 70's. I found replacement springs at The Gun Works (all one word dot com - not yet sure of forum rules for posting links).

They have several sizes, in stock, and got my order out very quickly. Now for the bad news: I bought the wrong size! Looks like I need a smaller one, 7/8" or maybe 13/16". Of course, I bought an extra, so I have a nice set of ear rings if that special lady ever comes along...:)

You know how that works, if you buy it in advance then there's a chance that you'll eventually need it some day.
And dot com links have always been fine to post here without any unreasonable restrictions.
Welcome to the THR BP forum.

Thanks for that, took a little navigating but found the springs. More interesting they list #10 percussion caps, at 62 + per K and 27.50 for hazmat:what:not that desperate yet:)

Thanks arcticap!

I managed to pick up an assorted size lot on Ebay for about $10, including shipping. This was awhile back. The valve broke on my tiny Colt flask and I couldn't get to solder back, but found a company that had an entire top that fit like a glove, cost more than I paid for the entire flask used but much cheaper than a new flask, this was also awhile back and I didn't save the info.
