I've been think about getting the lee 102gr mold lately mostly for my zinc rounds but I would like to load some with lead also so what is a good fast burning powder for the max charge on a 102gr lead bullet and probably around 50gr in the zinc bullet?

Lyman #49 manual lists 15 powders with a 90-95 grain cast bullet.
It will work just fine with your 102.

Maybe you should pick up a copy if you shoot cast bullets.

It's invaluable for cast & jacketed bullet load data.
And much more trustworthy then asking for loads on the internet from a bunch of people you don't even know.

As for 50 grain zinc 9mm bullets?
No idea, but you are going to be on your own there I think.

When you say MAX load & fast powder together I doubt your going to get the answer your looking for.

Bullseye or Green Dot. (you're on your own figuring out the data for the 50 gn bullet.)

I've used GD with 95 grain cast bullets in 9mm before and it works quite well even tho' it seems like nobody's ever heard of it. Now I use max loads of Bullseye with 135 grain bullets. Going to switch to Universal and 125's because I got another 9 that might not can take the abuse of the hot Bullseye loads.

maybe max is the wrong word? I would like a powder that can push these to bullets as fast as they can go. Ya I know I'm going to be on my own with the zinc bullets not a lot of people casting thos.

The load books are full of that kind of information.

Max velocity with whatever projectile is generally achieved with the slowest powders appropriate to the cartridge. Looks like in the Hodgdon/Win/IMR family you're looking at HS-6, Longshot, etc.

AA#7 or Power Pistol will give you the max velocity, but they are not gonna burn very efficiently with such a light bullet. I can crunch some numbers and come up with an estimate later tonite when I get home.

Green Dot and Bullseye will give you good velocity and burn clean if you use them up near the max loads, even with light bullets. (that's been my experience anyway)

Unique and Universal might be good compromises. You'll get higher velocity than you can with GD or BE, and you won't have near as much unburned powder as with #7 and PP (and HS6, Blue Dot, etc)

Use at your own discretion. I sized some Lee Makarov cast bullets to .358, and they drop right around 100 grains from my wheel weight'ish alloy, water quenched.

7.6 grains Power Pistol, WW SPP, mixed cases:
1404 1433 1457 1443 1441 AV 1435 ES 53 SD 19

OAL for these ParaMak rounds was I think .980"-1.00", the pistol was a 5" Beretta, measured with a ProChrono Digital chronograph.

well casting zinc bullets out of my 125gr lead mold they drop at 81 I believe can't remember for sure, and I have put 7.5 grains of unique behind them but I think the bullet is long out of the barrel before all the powder is burned up.

Fast powders on the burn-rate charts: n310, Bullseye through A#2
Check the manufacturers data and consider .380 info. Latest editions may include some 'copper' lightweight bullets.
