Does anyone know which powders these formulas relate to respectively:confused:

Sorry, i know that it is hard to read, but is all i could find.

This is the powder used for a specific 9mm Hollow Point round, i am trying to determine the powder if possible.

thanks,

Lefty:eek:

get a chronograph and see what velocity you with the load you are trying to duplicate. then look in the reloading manuals to see what powders will best do what you want. there is no way of knowing what the powder you have specs for really is unless you work for the powder companies and they probably won't tell you anyway

If that powder is used for factory ammo, you will not be able to get it as the makers use a bulk blend to a certain performance standard which can change from lot to lot

Wow, good luck with this one... Are these civilian canister powders? Where did you get the printouts?
As far as the Alliant powder goes, my closest guess is Power Pistol, although a NG content of 40% (if I'm reading that right) seems just awfully high. Accurate used to publish their NG contents, as well as granule size, but they no longer seem to, and I've never seen anyone else do it, but AA#5 was high for a handgun powder at 17%, with the shotgun Nitro 100 topping at 27%.
I'm not as familiar with Winchester powders...
Also steveno's suggestion is exactly what I've done to get an idea as well. As long as you know the exact charge weight, you can get a pretty good idea with a chrono, using bullet weight, powder type and all...

Then I guess the real question should be:

Does anyone know if the chemical breakdown of these two powders provide enough information for, and do they equate to, any current Alliant or Winchester powder composition made available to the public:scrutiny:

"Please do not reply with the obvious answers, because you obviously dont know the answer" :neener:

That is what I am looking for, basically knowledge of current composition if possible to determine in closeness to a powder. I am still working on obtaining the charge weight.

I have no velocity to duplicate because i have no ammo to shoot with, this is all from a piece of paper. I piece at a time.

This website may have some useful information related to what you're looking for. It doesn't provide proportions, but does list the chemicals used in the powder (check the drop down menu for the powder you're looking for, they have a bunch).

Emails from Alliant and Ramshot:
Alliant

Is American Select a single or double based powder. Thanks, AC

Technically, it is a double base powder, but the amount of NG is very small. It is approx 5%.
Thanks for your interest in contacting us and let me know if you have any additional questions.

Thanks. What is the average % for double base powders? AC

It varies. Red Dot is 20%, Bullseye and Power Pistol 40%, Blue Dot 15%.
There are several in the 15 to 20% range. American Select is the
lowest, Bullseye and Power Pistol are the highest.

Ramshot

Thank you for your interest in Ramshot Powders. Ramshot Competition is a double based powder

Competition has a 23% NG Content. Zip and True Blue run about 20% NG Content and Enforcer
is about 12%, as a comparison.

Update

Ok, after prodding for more information, I found out that the 9mm ammo i am researching is actually the Army (Mil) 9mm HP cartridge issued to Military CID that primarily use the M11 (P-228 i think) pistol. Attached is what i found. So I guess the best i can ask for is, who makes it for them, what bullet is used? I see that it is a 147gr 9mm HP, but which one.:banghead::fire:
