I am sure the CCI primers are going to federal; I would surmise the Remington primers are going to stay at Loanoke to make Remington ammo

Was in a nearby big city yesterday, and happened to be driving by a large Bass Pro at about same time as spousal unit mentioned something about a bathroom break. So we pulled off and went inside.

Last time I was in a BP ( couple months back), only ammo in the entire store was a couple boxes of .22 LR bird shot......on the end of one shelf where a year ago it had been two full isles of as much of anything you wanted as you could carry.

Yesterday, found ammo stacked on a 6 foot section of 3 shelves. One pile of .223.......might have been 20 to 30 boxes. The rest looked like it may have been residual from what started as a case each of various calibers. Around the corner......a single top shelf held various boxes of Hornady bullets, a box or two of Barnes something. Asked about powder and it was spotty. Had gotten about 6 cans of something that morning, but was gone in 60 seconds. Didn't ask about primers. But there does appear to be a very dim light at the end of a very long tunnel.

Another question. If I understand the Hodgdon operation, they buy bulk powders from around the world, then package those from bulk to 1 and 8 pound containers. From there, I'm wondering how many times that powder changes hands before it hits the retail shelf?

I would think PV, BP, Midway, MidSouth, etc. all buy direct from Hodgon. But what about my local gun shop? How many layers of distribution does that have to go through before they get their hands on it?

And same with primers? How many times do they get handled before we see them?

Doesn't really matter, just curious.

My local sells powder at around $30 +/- $4. They use to get powder in regularly until the last 3 weeks. So if a small independent shop can sell powder at pre-crazy prices, so can the big boys!

Just remember who took advantage of us and who didn’t!

A lot would depend on when that small shop acquired that powder - it it has been sitting on the shelf since before the insanity, his pricing could allow him to sell at that price (although he should be bumping it up to current pricing so he has cash to buy more) whereas the big boys typically have a much faster turnover inventory and are thus getting stuff at the current market pricing (which has gone up a LOT, and it isn't limited to shooting supplies)
