I noticed that every firearm site has primers but since the influx of primers on the market after the Pandemic the price has not gone down, what gives?? Even when the site has a sale, the primer price is the same as the price before the sale. What are your thoughts on when the price of primers will go down, if ever? I know the price won't go down to the Pre-Pandemic price, but I am thinking around $40 per 1K would be a great price. If those firearm sites don't want to lower their prices to sell Primers, then they can just sit on them forever cause I have done my share of being gouged. I have enough to last me a good many years (at gouging prices) and I see what I paid was a gouging price cause before the pandemic, I was paying less than $30.00 per thousand, but not knowing when they would become available again, I bought them at their price but not anymore. What say you?? Even reloading Powder has come down but not Primers. I was also gouged on reloading powder by one company, and when I questioned them they said it was the going price. Two weeks later other companies were asking half of what I paid for a pound, I GOT GOUGED!!! My fault for not knowing the going price. Shame on me!!!

I understand where you are coming from. Last primers I bought I paid $445.00 for a case of small pistol. Now they're down to $375.00 but I'm going to wait until prices come down to at least $60.00 a brick before I buy more. People keep paying the high prices so the retailers won't lower their prices.

Think of it like gas stations do. At the first news of a supply constriction, prices jump up (even though the gas in the tanks underground is already paid for). They don’t go back down until the tanks are empty and refilled with less expensive fuel.

It’s very hard to get lower prices when no one has it and you generally don’t get sales until everyone has had stock for longer than they like and want to move stuff (not including loss leaders and such).

Sportsmans Warehouse is selling spp under 6 bucks per 100. Only let you buy 200 at a time. It's convenient for me as I go to health club close by. Sometimes I bring the wife with and get 400. I'm up to 3000 now. CCI 500 and Rem 1 1/5. Better price then Cabelas and Sheels if you don't mind not getting a brick..

The last time I bought primers was about 5 years ago. They had a clearance sale for $109 per 5K. I bought 7 cases. I'm going to wait until prices get back to near normal before I buy anymore. It's the demand that drives up the price, If they sit on the shelf, the LGS wont order more from the distributor. The distributor wont order from the manufacturer unless they cut the price so they can offer the shops better deals.

While this may be true I don't expect this to have any effect on prices for quite awhile. With the current situation in this country, there are many out there buying primers at the current prices just because they can get them. Loaded ammo is still selling quite well which requires primers. Try finding LPPs for a decent price at the moment. Just my .02 cents worth...

I think it’s typical that guys complain when they can’t find primers as much as when they can find them, heck recently I read a thread where the complaint was the PACKAGING wasn’t to their liking. I think guys just like to complain..
My opinion..manage resources and go shooting.

You'll be waiting a long time. What we considered normal even 2-3 years ago won't happen again until the dollar's value is reset, which will never happen, as the rich would lose their liquid assets. They will never allow than to happen unless the country goes officially communist, in which case, you ain't buying anymore primers anyway.

With everything being up on price for raw materials as well as labor I don’t expect prices to be 60/k again. Manufactures said 2 years ago that prices were going to go up by 10/15%. Overall inflation as well as minimum wage, fuel cost for shippers and insurance have all gone up. I got primers in February 5k that was 390 I think. I got two cases then. Nobody local to me writhing 200miles one way has primers less than 90/k and that’s only when they have them. The only local spot for me which is a pawn shop has them listed for 180/k… I don’t believe prices will come down for a good while.

They must still be selling everything they can get or the price would come down.

I do think the new norm is going to settle at about $60 a thousand or close to that barring any new crisis in the world, but why would they drop the price as long as people are still willing to pay $90?

If I could find LRP for $60/K locally I'd buy a case in a heartbeat.

In my opinion, online retailers are selling suppositories for the price, shipping, and hazmat.

Out of curiosity, when you go to sell your house you bought 30 yrs ago, you gonna sell it for what you paid or you gonna sell it at market value...aka price gouging??

When has a price hike reversed after the "reason"? (consumer goods) Once the price goes up, does it ever come down to the point just before a hike?

I could have sold my Colt 6920 AR 15 multiple times following Sandy hook for 4k to 5k.
What fool nowdays is buying 4k Colts, I have a few I'd like sell.

Powder prices have stabilized somewhat, but availability and selection is sadly lacking. Stores here sell primers for ~ $90-120/1000 for Small Pistol Primers. (IF available...seldom!) Online prices are about the same for powder and primers, but the Hazmat fee+ shipping will kill any deal I might see! I have enough primers to see me through another couple of years, but would like to have more. (Of course!:D)

Just got an ad by Brownells that CC! & Winchester Primers were on sale, I checked and that is their regular price.Don't buy at their prices. STOP BUYING AT THEIR PRICE AND WAIT FOR THEM TO COME DOWN TO AT LEAST $40 PER 1k.

Sportsmans Warehouse has (and has had for awhile) primers for less than $6 per hundred ($60/1K) with a limit of 200 per day per person. Primers I've seen were CCI, Winchester, Remington, and Federal. Match primers are a bit more expensive. They've recently had some Fiocchi primers for $8.25/150, or about $5 and change per hundred.

I wish primers would get back to $40/1000, but I'm not holding my breath. Buy them if you need them, or they're at a price you can stomach. I'm actually glad they are becoming available again.

I think it was @GeoDudeFlorida that said he'd rather see them at a high price than have them unavailable at any price. I have to agree.

I feel pretty confident in saying we're not going to see $40/k again...maybe with inflated shipping and HazMat (I seen shipping as high as $30 and HazMat close to $40)

My threshold to buy is $60/k. I got pretty close with my last order of 10k (Ginex SPP) at $67/k...including shipping and HazMat

Current "sale" prices for primers are only about 10% below full retail. Supply appears to be catching up with demand, so I would expect even lower "sale" prices if that trend continues. Historically, normal sale prices for a single standard primer have been roughly the same as a single round of bulk plinking 22LR.
