Powders you want to try?

I picked up four new pistol powders last October (1lb each). I've tried only one so far. I have a lot of range trips planned to test these powders with a variety of bullets this spring & summer.
I would like to find some 3031 for my 30-30 and give that a try. I've only used Trail Boss, Unique, Universal and Win231 in it so far for light plinking loads.

SW Precision works goog in my AR-10, got some test loads to try in my 6BR:)

I've been half interested in trying SW Precision in my AR10.... Now I'm even more curious. I've been more and more interested in SW AR Plus after reading about it for 55&62gr blaster ammo lately as well.

I'd like to find a powder I can use in both 5.56mm and 7.52mm blasting ammo, with an added bonus of .30-06 M1 Garand loads. Right now I use 3 different powders (H335, IMR3031, and IMR4895, respectively...) and I've not found a whole lot of interchangeability between them. H335 works in both the 7.62mm and .30-06, but it's not the best choice by far. Similarly, not fond of trying to fit all those little Lincoln Log IMR powders into a 5.56mm case on a progressive. Yes, IMR4895 works with both the .30's, but my short-barreled M1a works better with IMR3031. The answer to all of this might very well be TAC... and I've been trying to get my hands on a can of it for about a year.

As far as pistol powders... about a year and a half ago I set out on a similar quest as my rifle powder... to find a powder that works well in both the 9mm and .45ACP out of short-barreled pistols. To say I was underwhelmed by the newer powders would be an understatement. Nothing worked as well as tried and true Unique. I did, finally, come up with an alternate... and that's W244, which if you load it within it's narrow parameters, behaved pretty well. So, what's old is new, again...
Have you tried IMR 4064, yet? It was developed for .220Swift and i know people who swear by it for .223 Rem and .308 Win. I've used it with good results in .30-06 so I know it's a good powder for that.

Ramshot Enforcer. I have a couple hundred Sierra 300gr. JHC bullets. Western Powders data say 17gr. of Enforcer will push that bullet to 1200fps and still be well under max pressure. I currently load them with 17 gr of 2400 for 900fps or 21gr. of IMR 4227 for 1000fps but those are both close to max loads and the 4227 load is a flamethrower. If the hog is close enough I will BBQ it

RL23 for .338 and 7mm Mag.

I already use RL22 in both and would like to try RL23. But I haven’t seen it available so I just picked up a couple more lbs of RL22.

I did pick up a couple lbs of both RL16 and RL26 recently. Haven’t really figured out a use for the 16 yet although I can’t find H414 anymore and the wife’s 7mm-08 loves the stuff so I may look into that. The RL26 was in case I actually rebarrel my .338 to 33 Nosler like my friendly neighborhood gunsmith recommended.

BL-C2 has been described to me as quite 'blasty,' something I'm trying to avoid. My tests with H335 in .308 and .30-06 showed it was pretty... uh... blasty, too, in those cartridges, yet works very well in the 5.56mm... which is why I continue to use it there. I know... I'm probably searching for a pound of unicorn tears... but the AR guys love TAC in the 5.56mm, and I've read good things about it in .308 (M1a in particular...) so I thought I would give it a try. IMR4895 works so darn well in the Garand I'm reluctant to waste any more powder trying to find an alternate; both H335 and IMR4064 work, just not as well as IMR4895.

I have used Varget in all of your applications, but it's a little "Lincoln Loggy," and will be the last to be readily available. N140 or H4895 (much less lincoln loggy than the IMR version) are probably your best bets. Don't use BL-C2 in the Garand if you like your op-rod. Yes, Hornady lists data. Yes, I got delayed ignitions, possible flashover detonation, and a bent op-rod using said data precisely. It doesn't like lower loading densities, which is what you get in a 30-06 case with Garand listed loads. W748 should fit in that application also, but I've only tried it in 5.56 and .300 Savage. Results there were excellent.

Lol..BLC-2 works rather well in the garand not awesome...but it works. Up around 48.0 to 50gr is where you want for M2 ball clone loads and a similar load for the M1 ball/M72 match clones.

That's what I use for jacketed bullets in the .30-30, but another to look at is H322, which is what I used prior. I think I get better accuracy out of IMR3031, but H322 is a reasonable alternative.

No, although I use IMR4064 in .308 for my 24" Savage model 10, where it excels. I think it would be too slow in my 16" barreled M1a with 150grn bullets, although it's what I use with 168grn SMK's.

You won't LOL when it goes wrong. I'd avoid shooting in cold weather.

I guess I have been lucky in the last six months picked up a lot of new powders for me (lot of looking) Precision, N140, Heavy Pistol, 4166, Major Pistol, Norma 201 204 URP ready to try some new loads for my 308s.

Norma 201 is my go to for win 94 30-30. Consistent and clean burning, can't imagine it would be awful in a 308

I havent seen alliant anything in a minute. Rl15 has been on the want to try list but an 8lb jug of ar comp would be even better

I nabbed some RL 23 a couple weeks ago from Brownells, literally the only alliant I've seen in like 6 months. I've been looking too, AR Comp is #1 on my list.

all powders are about the same...

Not trying to start a flame war, but I couldn't disagree more.
I have several powders that I'm not gonna try again.

700X meters like crap!
I'd have to weigh each and every charge.
I'm NOT into that.
I have 2 or 3 more, but I'm in a wheelchair & don't feel like trying to go down stairs to get names.
I know that's only 1 example, but that's off the top of my head.

I hope no one takes that the wrong way
