I took my 12 gauge stevens 311 to the patterning board tonight. Too much stock drop for me. I put three rounds into the board from 16 yards. The top edge of the pattern hit the POA - as expected, shooting low. I taped a piece of cardboard onto the comb and fired three more. Moved the pattern up about 6 inches. Added another piece of cardboard and fired three more. Pattern now nearly centered on the POA. I added yet another piece of cardboard and fired three more. Now the pattern is centered slightly above the POA - about a 60/40. I step back to the 25 yard mark and fire 3 more and the pattern remains a 60/40. The power of the patterning board!
Tomorrow I will buy one of those pads that strap onto the comb of the gun and sunday I will head out to shoot some skeet. Thanks to all who educate on this board!
