Good Evening all
I'm having a problem finding winchester 270 brass but found this PPU Brass. I've never reloaded with this brass, so before I even consider this I would like feedback from anyone who has heard of or used this brass. Any info would be appreciated.

It was the first brass I used when I started reloading 223. I'd bought a bunch of the Prvi Partisan/PPU ammo, saved the brass knowing I was going to eventually reload it. Decided to start with the same headstamp to eliminate at least one variable. It's worked out just fine.

Not the best (Norma or Lapua) or worst (A-merc or Wolf).
Decent; all my .260Rem brass is reformed PPU/PriviPartisan .243Win brass.

I've used it in a few calibers like 9mm, 38 special, 25-06 and 223. All good experiences here. If anything the rifle brass was a little on the thick side, slightly reducing volume.

I've had no problems with PPU brass in any of the calibers I've loaded it in.

If you're looking for .270 Winchester brass, I've got lots of it, and no rifle in that caliber. Send me a PM if you're interested.

Hope this helps.

Fred

I hate to be different, but IMO PPU brass is the worst brass I've ever reloaded for my .270W. Last week I shot cartridges, neck sized, using Remington, Winchester, Ted Nugent, and PPU brass. All were loaded with the same load. I had to beat the bolt open when using the PPU brass. No pressure signs were obvious on any of the brass such as flattened primers or cratered primers. I'm going to dispose of all of the PPU brass. The PPU brass did the same thing in my M70 Winchester and my T/C Venture, both of which are .270W.

I don't think I've loaded any PPU bottle neck brass, I know I've used some handgun stuff, and in that application it worked just fine.

I can't say for rifle brass but I have had a couple of 10mm auto crack on the 1st firing. After examination the brass was thin on one side. These were under power loads so I'm not sure what would have happened with full power. This could be just an isolated incident but I do steer clear of it now.

PPU in 9x18 Mak, 7.62x54R, 7x57, 8x57, and 30-06 have all worked well for me. PPU has made and still makes brass for domestic ammo mfgs on occasion.

Is there difference in case volume?
I load 45gr of Varget for 308 Winchester in a Remington case, and 44.5gr in a Nosler case with a 150gr bullet, guess why.
Answer, the brass is different.

Good point Joneb.

I never mix head stamps with bottle necks, pressures can range pretty significantly due to variances in internal case volume. Brass is not created equal, some head stamps are significantly thicker / thinner than others.

I used a lot of it in 10mm pistol for a while, but it's relatively thin and loses neck tension quickly. One or two reloadings, fine, but repeated loadings will cause about 20% of the cases to start losing tension. Unfortunately, I was never able to figure out a measurement or test that would let me ID the lost-tension cases before actually seating a bullet, which means lots of pulling down rounds with powder and primer.

Interesting ATL, Ive had pretty good success with 9mm.. You sure you hadnt been blowing out your neck tension due to all those 10mm souped-up steroid loads you're always lobbing downrange? :)

LOL! No, most of them were in the range of warm .40 loads, not 10mm max loads or anything very close to it.

Same/similar loads out of Starline... brass lasts a long, long, long time.

I consider it top notch rifle brass, not as good as Lapua, but better than most current domestic offerings.

I don't have much experience with their handgun brass, but I've loaded a few hundred of their .45 ACP cases a couple of times and haven't noted any problems. Admittedly .45 ACP softball loads are not known for being particularly hard on brass.

You DO realize that the brass cased Wolf Gold rifle ammo is made by Prvi Partizan (PPU), don't you?
