I think the Draco AK pistol look very cool but other than their small size, the ones' sold, look brand new. Are their receivers new(doubt it) and what country makes the receiver? You can get a Romanian WASR AK rifle for the same price but Romanians quality is only fair.

It is Romanian and unlike most other WASRs it's military grade quality.

As to practicality, not so much, but a parachord detach point can easily be added to the back of the grip allowing for a sling to be added and the gun to be shot "Israeli style" which provides significant support, but still not as much as a stock.

As pistols they do not have to abide by 922r. So they are assembled in Romania and imported whole. They receive a Tapco G2 trigger here.

As far as practicality goes, I suppose they're about as 'practical' as any other tactical rifle. They're plenty accurate to shoot without a butt stock to 50m, so you could hunt small deer with one in the thick brush you'd normally carry a shotgun in, and they'd be handy for that. Being a small package you can squirrel one away in a vehicle or in a motel bag easily enough. You absolutely must have hearing protection to fire one outdoors, and indoors every trigger pull would noticably damage your hearing in a self defense scenario.

In reality, the 922(r) issue is what makes them very attractive.

All it needs is an SBR tax stamp and a nice stock and you've got a pretty solid piece of hardware (made "right" by the original factory) without much fuss.

Some folks say the barrel is a little long for the cost of doing an SBR, but it looks like a pretty good package to me.

In Michigan, due to the fact that it would have to be registered as a handgun, it would make a good loaded trunk gun for a CPL holder.

It was manufactured as a handgun.
It was imported as a handgun.
It was sold as a handgun.

I'm confused over what else it could be registered as.

I'd also rather have a handgun with me, than in the trunk or otherwise inaccessible. IMHO long guns should be kept in the trunk.

In States like Maine

where they don't allow any long gun to be carried loaded, they make a lot of sense, at least to me they do. While I really don't ever anticipate having to emerge from my vehicle and jump into a firefight, these give you the option of a high powered round in a compact package, with plenty of firepower.
