I'm curious as to how many of us here have guns that are practiced with that aren't firearms. For many years, I've had a Nerf gun and a small laser-equipped airsoft gun near my computer. I often handle (fondle) them and shoot them at the targets that each came with, that are located across the room. The functions of the airsoft gun are the same as my carry gun so that many drills are able to be practiced with complete safety. The gun isn't powerful enough to break skin, even at point-blank range.

My kids and I have several airsoft replicas and just love them. If you haven't bought one, go and get one right now. They can be had from as little as $5, right on up to as much as the real guns! You can own just about any firearm in airsoft, and in most cases, for hundreds, and even thousands, of dollars less, and they mostly look and feel the part. Except for the orange muzzle on some. The ammo is reusable, incredibly cheap, and most importantly, available.

I've completely worn out more .177 BB air rifles than I care to count since the first Red Ryder I got when I was young, to the 2 year old Powerline 880 that finally gave up and broke last month. I just bought one of the new BB guns that looks like an M-4 to replace it and it is just a hoot to shoot. I also have the 1911spring-action that can fire the little .177 darts and I can spend hours pegging the dart board full of them.

I like these non-guns because I don't really need to worry about noise, smoke, recoil, where to shoot them, or availability of ammo. There's certainly no shortage of 6mm airsoft or .177 :D

I now have a GSG AK-22 and that is probably the most fun I've ever had with a .22 LR and even cheaper than firing its big sister... Besides, 7.62X39mm is getting to be a rare item where I live, and I'm keeping mine in the stockpile.

Does anybody else here go plinking with .22 and smaller?

Where I live, .22LR is even more so.

I do own a couple of airguns, including one "worthy" of trigger time. But, I admit that I have not yet used them to supplement my firearm usage. Probably should try it and see how it goes. I've been eying one of the S&W M&P CO2 pistols in .177 caliber. That might be neat.

I don't have any air-soft guns, but I do have a Gamo .177 rifle with a 4X scope that I use to keep the varmints around here in control, and a "Ruger" .177 Pistol made my Umarex to do some indoor practice with. The Gamo is really accurate, however the Ruger is inconsistent, as it has a terrible trigger on it. Guess I'm gonna have to shoot it a little more.
