Hey all.

Today I stumbled on a nice little pre-war 22/32 kit gun that I thought was a reasonable price. Not having any of my books (or The Internet) with me at the time I bought it.

I'd say the gun is in 90-93% condition but it does not have the original grips, someone fit a set of oversized J frame grips to it.

So then I find THIS GUY on Gunbroker selling basically the same gun for $5,500 (BIN=$8,000). Only difference is he has the matching factory grips and a higher serial number...

Anyone care to venture what a realistic street price on my gun should be?

Any thoughts on where I can get an original set of grips?

I'll clean it up later and post some pic's.

If it is an I-Frame pre-war Kit gun, SCOS&W 3rd. Edition lists it as:
F = 400, G = 900, VG = 1,500, Exc+ = 2,650, ANIB = 3,500

If it is a 22/32 Hand Ejector (Bekeart) it is listed as:
F = 185, G = 275, VG = 325, Fine = 550, Exc = 700, As New = 1500

Unfortunately I leant out my SCOS&W and will not have access to it for a few days.

I know SCOS&W tends to be a little low on the values but I wonder where the guy on Gunbroker got that it books for $7500.. :confused:

How can I tell if it's an I frame pre-war vs. Bekeart?

Well, the most obvious feature would be the Bekeart's 6" barrel and the Kit Guns 4" barrel.

According to the 28th edition Blue Book, I have a pre-war .22/.32 hand ejector.

They claim a 300-400% premium for serial range 525670-536684 and mine is 532xxx.

I'd rate mine at 90% which puts the "book" value between $5,400 & $7,200, less a discount for the grips...

I'd be amazed to ever see it fetch that much but I am very happy with it for the $229.00 I paid :D
