Uncle Richard, there is another possibility that you could think about. The 257 Roberts has the same case head diameter .473 and about the same cartridge length 2.680 as a 220 swift 2.775. You could send the original barrel and have the bore and chamber changed to a 257 Roberts. I think the cost to have this done runs about $300 plus the gunsmith fee to remove the barrel and reinstal it again. Something to think about. BW

What about the difference in bore diameter between the Roberts and the Swift?
.257 -.224 = .033"

zeke, according to some of the Re-bore websites they require at least .030 difference between the old bore diameter and the new bore diameter. As you stated the difference between a 257 Roberts and a 220 Swift is .033. Just out of curiosity I looked at both Redman's and Clearwater Re-Boring to see what they said. Redman's doesn't do stainless barrels. Uncle Richard didn't say whether his barrel is stainless or not. Clearwater Re-Boring charges $425 for a rebore and chamber. You must send the entire rifle to them so they can testfire after the job is completed. BW
