Gave these (PD V1) a try as I wanted to duplicate some of various powder loads on the nato reloading website. Starting loads anyway. Nato guy pushes the limit of what a guy can or ought to do with a 9mm. Is into +P+ and Major. I'm not.
But basically, the V1 is a very close copy of a Hornady 124 grain XTP. The V1 is 0.010 longer. Anyway, the PD website and internet seems to think V1 and V2 are not expanding bullets. I beg to differ. The V1 does expand, nearly the same as an RMR nuke does. The V2 does not. Treat it as a non expanding target bullet.
Both the V1, V2 and a Nuke were shot thru a water jug into a peat moss bundle backing. The Nuke and V1 blew out the back of the jug. The PD V2 made same hole going out as it did going in. It went thru the first bundle and stopped somewhere in the 2nd. I'm still looking for it.
Recovered V1............velocity was around 1,150 fps, from 5.6 grains BE-86.
