Gave these (PD V1) a try as I wanted to duplicate some of various powder loads on the nato reloading website. Starting loads anyway. Nato guy pushes the limit of what a guy can or ought to do with a 9mm. Is into +P+ and Major. I'm not.

But basically, the V1 is a very close copy of a Hornady 124 grain XTP. The V1 is 0.010 longer. Anyway, the PD website and internet seems to think V1 and V2 are not expanding bullets. I beg to differ. The V1 does expand, nearly the same as an RMR nuke does. The V2 does not. Treat it as a non expanding target bullet.

Both the V1, V2 and a Nuke were shot thru a water jug into a peat moss bundle backing. The Nuke and V1 blew out the back of the jug. The PD V2 made same hole going out as it did going in. It went thru the first bundle and stopped somewhere in the 2nd. I'm still looking for it.

Recovered V1............velocity was around 1,150 fps, from 5.6 grains BE-86.

I did an incremental ladder of those BE-86 loads. Starting at 4.8, then 5.0, 5.2, 5.4 and 5.6. Velocity showed a steady, commensurate increase and was about as easy shooting at 5.6 as the 5.0 to 5.4 were. Even the light loads cycled the gun (some other powders at low velocity don't). All things considered, that could be my goldilocks load.........either the V1, the RMR Nuke or both.

And even more encouraging, for me anyway, by the time I had shot all those ladders and cleaned up a few odds and ends, my point of impact had moved from low and left to centered on and around the bullseye. Proving what I had long suspected.........the gun's sights are not messed up........I was. Improvement coming in incremental steps, but improving just the same.

My favorite 124 grain bullets!

Compared to the 125 grain HAP, it has a similar profile except for the concave rear, and the 0.355" instead of 0.356" diameters.

Excellent for 9mm, .357 SIG, 9x25mm Dillon (at least around 1700 fps for the latter).

I like the Precision Delta 124 gr. I had seen a video some time ago about the expansion, but it wasn't as a pronounced expansion as yours. The 1st version is accurate enough for me. Their 2nd version looks more like Nosler's Sport bullet.

As you said, and I have said in the past, a near XTP clone. 1 degree (2 degree included angle) difference on the taper using a comparator.

I use CFE-Pistol and they work in every pistol so far.

I miss the days when Precision Delta had 2k bullets on sale for around $160.

I too load my 124 jhp loads with be86 but to 5.8-5.9 gr. For 1170-1220 fps depending on barrel and have been using rmr nukes, xtp’s, and gold dots. I’ve been eyeing the pd version 1 jhp wondering if they are similar to xtp. The xtp’s expand just like your picture but I get about 18” of penetration out of them and would like just slightly less and half the price sounds great too! This is great news, I’m getting on pd’s website and ordering 1000 to try. I’m a loyal RMR nuke fan but some barrels don’t like them and do like the xtp’s. Thanks for the review!👍

Finally had reason to bust open the 2nd bundle of peat moss backstop, and recovered the PD V2. Although it is a jhp, they say it is NOT an expanding bullet. They are right about that. PD V1 on the left. PD V2 on the right. Both shot thru a jug of water, then into a bundle of peat moss to recover them. The PD V1 blew back out of the jug, as did an RMR nuke. PD V2 made same hole coming out of it's jug as it did going in.
