124 gr HST in NON +P.

Strangely, more penetration than the +P load with slightly lower kick.

It's all I run in my PM9 now.

+P is all I run in my G26 and G17 though with a slightly longer barrel.

I'd suggest running a hundred rounds through your pistol before you carry this load for real to ensure it'll eat the rounds without a hiccup.

I concur with the above regarding the Federal HST, it's my #1 choice for carry ammo in all guns and calibers. The Speer Gold Dot is my second choice and also an excellent bullet.

Winchester Ranger "T" Series RA9T

147gr HST is good too.

I think the jury is still out on the 150gr HST

You need to find what works best in your gun. Reliability and accuracy are the criteria. Guns with consecutive serial numbers can prefer different ammo. Reliability is not as much an issue with quality centerfire semiautos as it once was. I like Speer Gold Dot non +P.

After quite a bit of research, I went with Federal HST 124g non-plus P for my S&W Shield. Given that you have a Kimber, make sure that whatever you go with runs well. Seems Kimbers can be kind of tight and picky.

See post #7 and apply to your use. . It has to work in your gun as the first priority. A copper round nose is better than any other bullet if it feeds in your gun and the others don't reliably.

With a short barrel 9mm HST is hard to beat. Gold Dot 124g +P isn't much behind it. If you are buying for not just a short barrel gun, as in you have other guns such as a home defense gun, I would go with the Gold Dot 124g+P. Most of the other Gold Dots do not perform well in short barrel 9mm guns. Aside from the ballistic tests, there is an awful lot of real world shootings with the Gold Dots since NYPD uses it and they actually publish their shooting results every year. Despite their reputation for spray and pray they have a lot of one shot shootings.

Ditto on the Speer Gold Dots. Remington Golden Sabers in 115gr are a good choice also.

I use critical defense in my Kahr cm9. the ammo quest and lucky gunner tests show that it tends to be on the low end of acceptable penetration, with consistent expansion. plus it's pretty commonly available, whereas I can rarely find the admittedly better hst

Every Kimber Micro 9 will shoot the same ammo differently. If you're not reloading, you have to try a box of as many brands and bullet weights as you can to find the ammo your's shoots best. Cycling is usually not an issue. The price of the ammo means nothing.
