FORT MITCHELL, Kentucky (AP) -- A nine-months pregnant woman fought off and killed a knife-wielding woman who may have been trying to steal the baby, according to police.

They said 26-year-old Sarah Brady acted in self-defense in killing Katherine Smith on Thursday. No charges were filed.

Smith, 22, had been falsely telling neighbors for weeks that she was pregnant, and a search of her apartment after her death revealed a full baby nursery, investigators said.

"She had everything in place that you'd expect to have in place with a newborn coming," Steve Hensley, police chief in this Cincinnati suburb, said Friday.

Brady, 26, was treated for cuts at a hospital.

On Tuesday, Smith called Brady, whom she did not know, and asked her to come over and pick up a mistakenly delivered package, the police chief said. The next day, Smith called Brady again to pick up another package.

The pregnant woman went to Smith's apartment Thursday, and that was when the attack occurred.

Well, I don't think the attacker had all her marbles in one bag. That can give a sane person quite an edge. Supposedly this Smith girl is well known for living in a fantasy world.

Makes me wonder if her father deserves to be in prison for sexual abuse based on her accusations.

Ryder, if the woman is living in a fantasy world, then why would you give credence to her tales about her father supposedly abusing her? She isn't credible as she lives in a fantasy world, but you think her stories of her father abusing her may be true? That just doesn't make sense. Anything she says has to be considered suspect if she doesn't have a grip on reality.

I am thinking that if Sarah Brady is 9 months pregnant then she is probably running late by now. Sometimes, heavy exertion or over stimulation to pregnant women nearing full term can trigger labor. Apparently Sarah Brady isn't one of those people where that happens, being full term and in a fight to the death for her life.

I can hardly wait for the overly pregnant femail mall ninja stories to start. Don't mess with women with hormone swings!

Not a joke. Just an unfortunate, innocent person inflicted with a common name that later becomes associated with evil (like Damion, Adolf, Ted Bundy, etc.).

She used the attachers knife. As of last night she had not yet delivered.
