I'm stuck between PSA's 16" premium and their 16" chf uppers. Which one would be better from an accuracy standpoint, and what sort of accuracy can be reasonably expected from it?

What's the difference?

About $30.

For that kind of price difference, you aren't going to see any real difference in accuracy to much else.

I have a premium and have been getting around 1.5 moa with it. I have heard more reports of people getting 1 moa with CHF barrels than I have with premium barrels.

I would recommend if you plan on using a medium power optic and shooting ammunition that is capable of high accuracy, you dig deeper and see if you see a trend. If not, you are good with either barrel, as they will both out shoot the shooter.

Just looking ove at PSA, which I am prone to do even when I have no money to spend, I was very impressed by what these uppers are offering spec wise for the price.

That throws the plus or minus $30 equation out the window. When I reviewed my PSA premium after a few thousand rounds, I mentioned that I think the pure accuracy potential of the rifle is over-rated. That is because it takes so many things working together (barrel, optic, ammuntion, trigger, rest, shooter, environment) to get excellent accuracy. And generally one of those things is left out and that negates the others.

I've been testing a PSA Freedom upper in a Youtube series, and had no problem getting hits on a 10" steel gong at 400 yards, without even owning a chronograph and knowing my MV. Even at 300 yards with 2.5 moa ammo, I was almost 100%. That tells me a moderate amount of accuracy goes a long way.

Over on ARFcom there has been considerable discussion on this. From what I have read it seems that many are suggesting the premium over the standard. I have bought neither so I can not give a personal opinion.

I have rifles with each barrel and unless you are into serious paper punching there will be little difference in accuracy. If tiny groups are your goal do not buy a barrel built to military specs and spend your money for precision, the barrels you mentioned will work better in the field than on the rifle range.

Choosing premium or CHF won't be the cause of a difference in accuracy. Variations in the thickness of chrome lining will. Inch and a half groups are a reasonable expectation. If you are looking for extreme accuracy, there is a reason a lot of match barrels are stainless.
