I've read this debate go both ways & I'm hoping someone truely " in the know " can settle this. If you have 2 cartridges , in this case, a .45 acp with a 230 gr. Win. FMJ bullet and a .45acp with a 230 gr. Berry's plated round nose bullet, both atop the same 6 gr. Unique charge, which will create more chamber pressure ( & likely more felt recoil ) given ALL other factors for the 2 loads are exactly the same besides the projectiles, and both fired in the same pistol ? Thanks

The JHP would produce more chamber pressure with an equal powder charge.
The copper jacketed bullet is harder & resists being pushed down the bore more then the thin plated jacket soft lead bullet, therefore it would produce more chamber pressure.

It doesn't follow though, that it would produce more recoil, because it is also going to produce less velocity at the same pressure then a lead or plated bullet.

Recoil is based on velocity, not chamber pressure.

Call Hodgdon and ask them. They have pressure testing equipment. I believe I asked them a similar question about lead bullets verses jacketed bullets and I believe they said lead bullets would produce more pressure. If you call them please post their answer.
