Ok so while I am looking for my first pistol I decided to visit the gun show that was going on this weekend while I debated on getting the CZ75B I have found. Needless to say, I ran into a guy at the gun show with a pristine CZ40B in .40 caliber which looked as if it had never been shot. However, the guy said it had been shot a few times at the range, in any case it was a beautiful gun, fit nice, etc. etc. so I asked what he wanted for it and he says he would take $450 for it, 3 mags, and a quick/easy loader he had for it. I really liked this gun so I told him I would think about it. On my way out I stopped back by his booth and got his number. I am seriously debating purchasing the 40B vs. the 75B (9mm). However, $450 seemed a little steep to me so I figured I would ask you guys on here for opinions. I can get the 75B I found for $299 or I can get the 40B for $450, but the guy did say he would not do taxes, etc. etc. So what do u guys think? Both are used in excellent shape, both are great guns, both fit well, etc. etc. I just don't know which would be better. I have found the 40B NIB at gunbroker.com for $325 but I prefer to do business with real people, if you know what I mean. I just am wondering if this dude is trying to screw me out of a$100 or so. He said he would negotiate but, I dunno how much LOL.
Also, as far as buying from an individual, what would I need to do? What kind of paper work needs to be done, etc. etc. I have never done this before. I am sure that my state, Alabama, has laws regarding this but for the most part they are really lenient here, but I do not know what to do as far as purchasing this thing legally. I guess I could call up the courthouse and ask. Last thing, is there a way I can check to see if this gun has ever been used in a crime or anything? I don't think it has but it never hurts to check I don't guess. Any advice, info. etc. would be very helpful and most appreciated.
