Heya guys, any CZ 40B owners around here? I have a couple questions.

I don't have a heck of a lot of experience with handguns, so bear with me if this sounds like a strange question.

I recently took a CCW course, and in order to prepare for the course, I took a few trips to the shooting range to try and improve my accuracy. I wanted to make sure I could pass the range test (part of the CCW requirements here). I don't usually shoot very often, especially not .40 ammo since it costs so much and it's always sold out at wal-mart (cheapest source I know of).

When shooting my CZ 40B, I started to notice that when it fires, I seem to be seeing what look like sparks coming out of the ejection port. Is that normal? I don't remember seeing it happen on my Kel-tec P-11, or my Dad's Ruger P94 9mm, or my Ruger 22/45 MK III. Those are really the only autos I have shot. I don't remember if it ever did it before, it has been a few years since I shot the CZ 40B. If it did then I sure never noticed before. I guess actually, I only really noticed it after I had been practicing for a while to try and improve my shooting, and was getting over some of my flinching problem, then I started to see it.

The gun has a cut-down CZ 75B recoil spring, a modification a lot of CZ 40B owners were doing. I think I used either the 18# or 20# spring. The slide is much harder to rack than with the original recoil spring, but the shells still go flying really far when they are ejected.

Just want to make sure this isn't a symptom of something wrong with the gun.

Also, this might give you a laugh: Before I pulled out the .40 I had been shooting my Ruger 22/45 for a long time, trying to improve my breathing and trigger squeezing and trying to get tighter groups. I guess I got lazy shooting the little .22 with no kick, because the first shot I fired out of the .40, the gun kicked back so far I almost hit myself in the face hehe... Had to remind myself to hold it tighter! And my .44 magnum kicks even harder, good thing I didn't go straight from .22 to .44 magnum or I would probably have a bump on my head :p
