What is a reasonable price for a 95% (or better) S&W Model 27-2, with a 3.5" barrel and adjustable sights? Opinions on the gun are also welcome.

Thanks!

An early model with a pinned barrel and a recessed cylinder-$330. A late model (no p.b. and r.c.)- $365. Values are from 2003 "Gun Trader's Guide".

If you check around you'll see this model with this barrel length is in extremely high demand. I've been looking for one for about a year.

I would pay the asking price, personally. They aren't making any more. And you can take the used gun guides and throw them away on this one.

Model 27-2

$500 is not a bad deal for a 96% gun in a 31/2"Model 27!
$600 would be the low end for a nice one 98% or better, that is Pinned and recessed with the Box and papers,a NIB add $150 to $200 depending on where you are.
The Model 27 was the Flagship of Smith and Wesson for a long time, and the 31/2" barrel length is the most sought after length.
I have bought 27's and sold 27's cheaper but not in the past year or so and not 31/2".
Could you find one cheaper, maybe how long do you want to wait?Short barrel length Smiths are getting harder and harder to find.
If you want the gun try to get the best deal, but with a 27 in 31/2","You rairly will pay to Much, but may buy to soon" :D
By the way I will warn you those things are like peanuts"You will not want just one"

I'd buy them all day long at that price. :)

I bought a new unfired 27-2 3 1/2 last year for $400.00. It had no box or paperwork and it had been cocked so there was a light cylinder line. The cheapest I have saw one sell on the net was $425.00 and it had a hard case, all accesories and a extra sight blade. It appeared to be at least a 95% gun from the picture. I think it lasted all of 10 minutes in the classifieds. There just aren't any around. They say on the S&W forum that the 5" version is just as rare and if you notice the 4" aren't available either. The 6" version see to still be available in quantity at around $400.00 in 98% or better shape.

I am getting ready to change the unfired condition of my 27 3 1/2". As they say life is too short not to enjoy it! :)

I'll take all the 31/2" ones you have @$330 give you a $50 dollar Profit if they are 95% guns or better and I'll even pay the freight.
How many do you have??

These are selling for $600+ on the S&W forum and they last only a few minutes at these prices. On the auction sites I have recently seen 3.5 inch 27-2s getting bids of $700+ and this doesn't meet the reserve in many cases. If you want one of these I would buy now as the prices are currently strapped to Titan missiles headed for the moon.

Unfortunately the 3 1/5 inch model 27's have absolutely nothing to do with the blue book.

Two perfect examples very recently went in under an hour on another board for $750 each.

I bought one a month or so ago for $425. Mine is in about 95% condition with a couple of very minor scratches and otherwise perfect blue and original grips.

If you can find an excellent one close to $500 then snap it up. Like all guns there are bargains to be found but you really have to shop hard to find one of these 27's in a 3 1/2 inch barrel.

I never have been tempted to give one of my guns a name but this one has been named man glands. :D

I'd pay five bills for a 95% example with no box without flinching.

I consider my pristine '64-vintage 3.5" 27-2 to be the flagship of my S&W collection. They were considered the Cadillac of S&W's lineup in those days, and "the quality went in before the name went on."
