I found a Colt AR at a local shop for what seems to be a good price. What do you guys think?

-Receiver is stamped Colt HBAR Match Target ( I think the Match part is in there somewhere)
- 20" bbl. no bayo lug
- A3 receiver with the removeable carry handle and rear sight
- overall condition looks to be excellent
- comes with factory box, paperwork and cleaning kit, one 5-rd mag and one 30rd. Okay Ind. mag
- I can get it for $900 OTD

Sound like a deal? I am not as familiar with the going prices on Colt AR's, but this is substantilly cheaper than another shop that has the same thing for over 1K.

Thanks,
W

Not shabby. I picked up a used Colt Match Target HBAR a few months ago (chrome 1:7 barrel, A2 upper) for about $860. I was actually looking for a configuration like you're describing but couldn't find it at the time so had this one reworked.

I think that's a good price.

I think the match target is a post ban, not that it matters now, while the Sporter is a pre-ban.

That's about what post ban configuration ones are selling for here.

never try to figure a price on what someone's asking for one..

I'd only go removable carry handle if you are going to mount optics. When I was shopping for my last AR, I almost went with a removable handle, but everything I READ was that no one makes one that will hold zero.
I like using the iron sights on all of my military style rifles. But that's just me.

If you like irons, you could always just go out and buy one of thoes small rear sights that attach to the weaver rail. and as long as you dont take it off it should stay zero

Hmmm, haven't come across that problem myself in reading or practical use. All of the carry handles I've seen return to zero pretty well as long as you use witness marks on the knobs.
