Found a 3" model 13 at a local shop marked at $289. I looked it over and it is mechanically sound, but is ummm......cosmetically challenged. The steel is smooth, but there is a patch on the cylinder that is almost bare and it has moderate-heavy wear on the muzzle.

I have wanted a 3" 13/65 for a while and I prefer the blued version, but I just can't bring myself to pay what I think I could get it for (probably $275 OTD) with it being in the kind of condition its in.

If I could get it for the $275 price, do you think this would be a reasonable deal?

Thnks guys,

That's probably as good as you are going to get on a 3" barreled gun. A complete reblue probably won't cost you more than $100. Get the gun, shoot it until you tire of the looks, then get it refinished. All guns, blue and stainless, wear. Blued guns carried in synthetic holsters -- particularly Kydex -- wear faster. A good suede-lined leather holster is more forgiving, but even that will wear the finish over time. Think of it as "marks of mature distinction."

I am going to head back to that shop today to look it over again. The wear doesn't bother me as I like the "aged" look. Kinda goes with my gray hair (and I'm only 26:uhoh: ).

O'course now the hard part is deciding between it and the 4" bbl. model 19 they haev marked at $250.

I would do the 3" 13 and as Al said send it down to AP&W for a hard chrome treatment.

I really like my 3" 13 and would recommend it highly. But I also like my K38 so a 19 would be great also. Great prices but carry cash and be patient.
3" 13's tend to hover around $350 to $425 right now. so $275 is not bad.
No hard chrome, that ruins the value of a great revolver.

Layaway the 19 and get the 13, and shoot it, if the gun reallly proves it's worth, and it will, then look to reblue later.

Dicker on a deal both for $475.... but have cash out.

The 13 is a good gun and the price is okay. But I still advocate the C R Sam method of walking in with cash and seeing what you can do.

However, once you mention the M19 things change a bit. The M19 is a great revolver and $250 is a very good price for one. What shape is it in?

Wonder if they would go for $500 for both? Now THAT would be a good deal.
