A friend of mine has offered me an M1922 M1 .22 Springfield, he kept it and 3 other long arms wrapped up in an old rug for years, the bore is perfect, the metal finish I'd put at 80%, stock 80% also. I told him I'd either buy it from him or help him get a fair price for it. I have it (and the his other three guns) in my safe now. Any opinions on current, fair market value would be appreciated.

The bidding on Gunbroker is up to $780 on one right now. There's another, apparently very rare one w/ Unertl scope up over 2k:what:

Thanks Hutch, I'll check out Gunbroker. $780 is at the low end of what I had in mind.

Flayderman's "Guide to Antique American Firearms" (8th ed.) lists it on page 496. He describes it and the other variants of the M1922 .22LR in some detail. Values are VG $900 and Exc at $2250.

They are exceptionally fine guns and have taken a fair price increase over the years. I shot one in high school back when and finally got an M2 version which is a sweetheart (as are they all).

Make sure it gets a nice home.
