price of a ruger redhawk...???

looking at a ruger redhawk .44 mag blued 7.5 in barrel. its in great shape and locks up tight. has the indentations for rings on the barrel. no box, rings or manual.
i have always wanted to take a whitetail deer with a handgun. my buddy wants $410 for it. is that a awesome, good, ok, or high price for it? thanks in advance.

I think the price is reasonable. I bought the same one from a friend with the box and rings about 5 years ago and am very happy with it. I put a Nikon 2X scope on it and it's pretty heavy set up like that.

Redhawk

Four years ago I picked up the identical gun, except in stainless, for 500 bucks from an estate. Same deal: no rings, no box, no manual. Got a set of Ruger factory rings from Brownells and put a Leupold 2x on it. It really shoots well and has made me a big Redhawk fan. Perhaps you could get that one checked out by someone knowledgable in such things. If it's in good shape I'd say "go for it".

I just sold my 30 year old stainless Redhawk w/Leupold scope a couple of weeks ago for $750. Granted it only had about 2 boxes of ammo through it. I would say that is an excellent price if in great condition.

Large bore DA in really good shape. Good price imo. That revolver will last two lifetimes.

Also, RUGER dose not make a blued REDHAWK anymore. I'm on the look out for a blued REDHAWK with a 5.5 in. bbl. in .44MAG.

You snooze, you loose. That was an excellent price on that gun and that's why it sold so quickly. I paid $550 for a new blue 41 mag Redhawk a few years ago. Probably overpaid by $50, but you get the point. This was a couple years ago and prices have gone up.

I've heard that, which is why there isn't one in my house. The biggest reason I passed on the Redhawk was I was looking for a .44 in another make.

Been there done that. I've lost count of the number of guns that have gotten away.

But I'm not really knowlegable & like to do my research. Each time I learn something & next time I'll know to pounce.

I've told my LGS owner that I'm good luck. Whenever I decide a consignment gun he has is what I want it's gone when I get there.

Just for future reference, I would say to create a "favorites tab" to an online whole store/drop-shipper like Bud's Gun Shop on your iPhone/Android. (I assume you carry a smart phone like the majority of people.)

The link can be used to give you a good base price on the majority of NIB firearms. You can combine that knowledge with your own opinion of how much to add/deduct for the age/condition/upgrades done to the gun.

Also, you can search around on gunbroker to find a similar used gun for comparison pricing. However, it does take a little more time and you want to be certain to look for auctions that are actually receiving bids/been sold and not just one of the habitual re-listed items that never meets the reserve.

I find that having an "up to the minute" reference can rally help when negotiating a price.
