I have been thinking of trading my old Grizzly in and wanted to know 'bout what it was worth on the going market. It's an old Mark I in .45 Win Mag with two mags. The serial # is under 200 so it is one of the very first in production. Very good shape with Pachmayr grips. I have'nt shot it in several years.

I know I will probably regret trading it, but I have a hankering for a Beretta 391. :banghead:

Hey kudu-

My ole bud over in Georgia, Big G has got your Griz's
brother in the .44 magnum revolver cartridge; so I feel like
he should be able to quote you a fair price for yours. But,
I haven't seen him on the THR forums tonight?

Best Wishes,

Kudu,

They are telling you a tale to make you feel good. I'll give it to ya straight. Your Grizzly Win Mag ain't worth more than $350 or $400 at the most. If it has the comp on the barrel then it could go up to $450.
I hate to see people go to a gun store with their hopes all up thinking they are going to be getting a ton for their gun only to leave broken hearted. To save you from that kind of pain and embarassment, I am willing to send you a money order tomorrow for the amount I quoted and ensure that you do not have to face that kind of humiliation. An experience like that has ruined many a good gun owner and I don't want to see it happen to you.

OK, I'll probably hang onto it. I know it shoots 1" groups off the bench at 25 yrds. That and the 1000 rounds of ammo and dies I'll never get my money out of.

If you are planning on going to a gunshop and trading, don't expect to get much for it. Gunshops are there to make a profit. They are not going to give you $900 for a $900 gun. You would be lucky to get 60 or 70% of what it is worth to them. If you really want to part with it, sell it directly to another shooter, you'll get a lot more for it.

Just remember that if you sell it you will never be able to replace it. Those LAR's are really cool guns and i bet you'll end up missing it down the line.
