I know I'm behind the Iron Curtain here in the PRK, but life has been good to me and I have a lot of nice firearms I've picked up at reasonable prices.

Went in to the local gun store today for a final 2004 purchase. If I buy today, I can still pick it up in 2004. Nice way to end the year.

Wrong. I may have been born at night (actually just after midnight), but it sure wasn't last night.

Of the ones that caught my eye:

Used Sig 225 (not one of their factory refurbish ones) - $589
Used S&W M3000 - $350
Used 870 Wingmaster Police trade in - $350
4 very used S&W M&P's - $299
Colt 1911 NRM .38 super - $989

Wallet stayed firmly in my pocket. :(

Oh, there are still bargains out there, but most of them are from former Soviet countries. As one wag on the C&R list wrote, "Tula, the arsenal of democracy."

Might I suggest some current bargains.

Unissued Yugo SKS's are still around for $150.00, but they're going fast

Russian M39 arsenal rebuilds with excellent bores have been seen for as low as $60.00 in recent months.

Russian M44 carbines in excellent condition are still available for around sixty bucks, also.

Prices on Finn M39's have gone up a bit. But you can still get an unissued VKT for $250 from Wholesale Guns and Ammo (good guys to deal with!) These suckers are phenomenally accurate for military guns, regulary shooting to 1.5 moa.

If you ever wanted an Enfield, some have just come back on the market. You can find Savage MK4's for about $250, but Centerfire Systems has some MKIIIs for under a hundred. That may (or may not be) the last of the low-priced .303 Enfields.

Handguns -- Bulgarian Makarovs have dropped in price lately, and are going wholesale for around $130.00. CZ-52's are around $100.00.

Seek and ye shall find. These are the good old days for the near future.

Happy Holidays, all.

Sounds like you went to Rettings. You might want to try Turners. For the Colt, try Gunsight in Fullerton. A couple of months back I they had a .45 NRM Govt. and Commanders with trigger jobs for $671 each.

I think you shouldn't buy any more guns for a while. Save the money and send it to Bekins.

Las Vegas real estate has slowed down a bit and prices are coming down/stabilizing. You can get a nice place in a free state and still be within a few hours drive of LA.

Oh yeah, we have no state income tax, are Class-3 friendly and are shall-issue. Oh, our waiting period is only three days on handguns. No wait on rifles. Once you register one handgun, your blue card (registration card) allows you to cash and carry.

Yep. Rettings.

I would love to relocate, but my wife is California through and through. My folks live in Phoenix. At least I get the taste of free living every visit.

What's a blue card?
What's a waiting period?

:D Bragging in AK

Of course, I'm a long way from LA, but I think it's best for both of us.

Bragging in AK

Also bragging in the free state of Utah. Cash and carry in 5 minutes or less. Oh, and the prices are quite reasonable :D

I'll second the suggestion to go to Turners. I really can't complain about the service. Because of a couple of errors in paperwork, they gave me a zip up gun case and a box of .223 and apologized for the inconvenience. There have been times when I felt nearly obligated to buy guns just because of how well I was treated as a customer in the Fountain Valley store. I never got that kind of service at another gun shop mentioned here, even when I was buying guns from them.

Their sale prices can be pretty good at times too. Just check out their online ads at www.turners.com. They come out every Tuesday afternoon.
