Primer pickup tubes

Hello, I just added a hornady lock n load ap to my collection of lee presses. I was wondering if anyone out there has figured out a better way of getting the primers in the tube other than stabbing them one by one?

it's an age old issue, I call it 'primer snarfing'.

rcbs invented aps primer strips which are considerably faster.. But you'll need an rcbs press to go with'em.

I separate the resizing process from the reloading process for other various reasons but it affords me the opportunity to hand prime off the progressive press.

At $630 for the two sizes it would have to be REALLY enjoyable to watch it run.

It gives you a short break to stretch your legs. I load up 2-6 tubes before I start. 6 tubes will be 1 hr of reload time, all my back can take at the moment.

Since it does not take long to pick up the primers with the primer tube, I don't give it much thought. I did notice early on that primers were easier to pick up after the plastic tip on the end of the primer tube expanded just a little from use.

I use the primer refill time to rest my rebuilt shoulder. I load standing so get to sit for a minute or two to refill the primer tube. If I really want to crank out ammo, I fill multiple tubes at a sitting. Several years ago, probably 20+, I bought five each large and small tubes from an ad in Shotgun News. They are clear plastic with a thin brass pick up tube. Wish I had a dozen! They sure beat the plastic and aluminum tubes that come with Dillon.
