$26.50 per 1k of Tula .223 SRP in January from PV. $123 for the primers and $42 for shipping/hazmat and tax.

And I pay about $42 locally for Win, Rem, Fed, and CCI SP/LP/SR/LR, after tax. I have no problem paying $42 locally but it definitely wouldnt be worth it to pay that online+hazmat+shipping.

Squatch, I'm not getting the math. Are you saying that $26.50/K is the all-in price you paid for the primers, including hazmat, shipping, tax, and insurance? How many primers did you buy?

$123 + $42 = $165, and if you divide that by 5 (to get the 1K "brick" price for what I'm guessing was a 5K "case" of primers), you get $33/K. If you bought 6K, though, that would work out to $27.50/K all-in. I'm a bit of a math nerd so stuff like this has to work or I get all twitchy :D

The Tula 223 primers are currently listed at $21/K, but are (of course) out of stock.

I bought 15K of Federal LPP from PV for an all-in price of $29/K ($26/K for the primers, $44.95 shipping/hazmat/insurance) . . . the math works in that example ;)

When buying online, I get together with friends and buy as much as one hazmat fee allows which is 70 lbs. If I remember correctly, it was Powder Valley that had free hazmat in September and it cost $50 to ship four 8 pound powder jugs and 10K primers.

If I bought local, the taxes would have been more than $50 on that order.

Locally primers are $40 a thousand if you can find them.

You're right, my math was a little off, as I was going by memory. It was $123 for 6k, $0.50 for insurance, $27.50 hazmat(which I guess includes shipping), and $10.26 for sales tax since I'm a KS resident. Total of $161.26 for 6k, comes out to $26.876 per 1k. They were $20.50 (pre hazmat/ins./tax) back when I ordered in January. I should have ordered another 5-6k and I would have but I made that purchase around 4am before talking to my wife about it.

Haven't been able to find any at my regular places. Midway, Graf & Sons and Nantchez. Dealer friend of mine had 10K come in. Me and another friend split them, 5K ea @ $150. $30 per K for Federal LMP.

True but 500 primers of each type is the max you are allowed to purchase per day.
Not online there isn't - in fact they prefer you buy them by the sleeve of 5000, the packaging is designed for shipment. Go in with friends and get 4-6 sleeves for one hazmat/shipping fee

I paid $44 for a thousand for SPP a month or so ago because that was all I could find. I hated to do it, but even at that price, I'm loading 1k rounds for under $70, so it's still very much worth it.

My LGS instituted limits of 400 primers per person early this year & have since lowered that to 200 while simultaneously raising the cost per sleeve to right around $5/100 for standard Winchester Large Pistol/Rifle primers. Despite the fact that they recently got an order in & have several cases of Winchester primers on the shelves now, they still haven't lifted their per-customer quota. Also haven't seen any small rifle or small pistol primers (of any brand or at any price) on the shelves around here for months. I just began reloading in the past year or so, so wasn't exposed to the run on components, etc. from 'last time', and didn't really have the funds to lay in a big supply of components after purchasing all the other gear. Guess I'll just have to hope for the best & wait it out with the rest of you! :)
