Is there a list of what primers go with what caliber?
I'm looking for a comprehensive list.
Like Federal XXX fits .223,.308 etc.

There are 4 primer sizes. Large and small pistol and large and small rifle. Each manufacturer has different numbers for their primers but they are labeled as large or small, pistol or rifle. Cases are listed in the manuals as using one of thes types of primers. The term magnum or standard indicates how much primer compound is in the primer. Magnum primers are specified in loading data for loading hard to ignight powders or to be used in very cold weather.

Yeah there is such a list. You follow the loading data in reliable fullsize reloading manuals! Do not deviate from the reloading data, if you do then you have to rework the load up as you have changed the parameters. Each fullsize reloading manual will have the primer cross reference table.

Owning and reading fullsize reloading manauls is essential to being a prudent reloader.

Actually when in comes to "sizes"
there are small and large. Small measure .175" in diameter and large measure .210"in diameter. The cups of the large rifle are taller.

Each brand has many kinds look at Federal
They have 4 kinds ie with large rifle
Regular 210 and Match Regular 210M
Magnum 215 and Match Magnum 215M
and they make a 216 Magnum that is not distributed....

Whereas CCI
Has 400 small rifle, 450 small rifle magnum, BR4 for benchrest

Or Remington
6.5 small rifle, and 7.5 bench rest

Following the loading manuals is paramount!
