I guess the panic has set in.

I was pricing primers today on the Midway website. They were sold out of ALL PRIMERS. Grafs were sold out of most of theirs as well.

Hopefully once the panic settles down some the componet hording will slow down as well:mad:. Leave some for everyone people!

Midway does not sell primers (or powder) directly. Another company fills the order and ships it which is why you can not combine primers and powder from midway. Try powder valley, they have primers in stock.

I don't understand why people order powder or primers from midway, it costs more than going to somewhere like powder valley or grafs or any other place that actually stocks the powder and primers. Midway is just a middle-man and they jack the price up.

Primers and certain powders have been hard to get for the past year or so. They say because of the war. Primers raised $20/thousand at least over the past 12 months, and they are sure to keep going up due to the election results.

The recent "Sky is falling" panic buying will do to this market what the surplus shortage did to .308 pricing.

If you can find 'em cheap, stack 'em deep.

Shades of the '92 Great Primer Scare all over again.

Yep, nothing new, but they are out there. Just keep checking, they will be back in stock soon.

I buy most of my primers 3 or 4 thousand at a time from a guy who does local shows. I will buy some small pistols primers from him in a week and a half, assuming he is there and has them. The last time I "stocked up" I bought them from Grafs.

As far as why people order from Midway? I didnt know of anywhere else at the time and Midway wouldnt tell me of anywhere else either! I had never heard of Grafs or Powder valley or Wideners before finding THR. Needless to say my last order went to Grafs not Midway for primers.

Yep. Again. Wait a few weeks, those susceptible to a frantic panic will be overloaded and the empty shelves will again be full.

The shelves are starting to empty at my local Sportsman's Warehouse store. If this anything like what happened when Slick Willie took over in the early 90's I wouldn't put off buying "necessary" supplies....

About a week ago I had a hard time finding primers. Even at Grafs and PowderValley. I waited till some Wolf primers finally showed in stock at Grafs. I ordered 10,000 primers and 8 pounds of powder at the drop of a dime when I seen this.

Gotta do the grab and go when you can right now.

I'm thinking that waiting a month or so makes sense. There are a lot of folks that reacted to the election and started stocking up. The dealers raised their prices in accordance with demand. When the next shipments come in from the manufacturer, they won't disappear as quickly. There will be another rush on January 20th- when he gets sworn in. Then a month later there will be too much inventory again.

Face it- there are a lot of us gun owners that resemble Chicken Little.;)

I was shooting a lot of rounds throughout the Clinton administration- I'll be doing the same through the Obama administration- mark my words.

I go to a local mom and pop for supplies and there has not been aproblem at all with the exception of WSP's a few months ago. I was in tonight for a few bricks of primers and pounds of powder. They are fully stocked.

Just picked up a brick of CCI SP at the local Wally World. No shortage there.

(I'd prefer to buy them at the local gun shops, but they either don't carry them or charge outrageous prices-over $4 per hundred.)

How much were they? The last time I went to Wally World in Vienna they wanted around $3.50 per 100. I can buy them at Graf's for $1.60 per 100. Where are you in WV? If you are close to me you would be welcome to get in on our group buys if you would like.

My local Evil Mayhem Distributor (gun store) just got in new stock of Winchester primers- for $39 per thousand... Needless to say I poked around on his shelves and found one box of Winchester large pistol that had the old $26 price tag and took them home.
Found 2000 CCI large rifle for $17 a thousand last month. Been trying to find anything I can that is old stock, old price, and forgotten inventory.
