I use mag primers with h110, I prefer mag primers always for every load regardless of powder but if I run low on mag primers (like now) I know I can safely use standards with no risk . I've never seen any difference, you'll get more variation between powder lots than primers will give you.

Speer's online 357 reloading data recipes use small pistol magnum primers with some powders, small pistol primers with other powders.

Remington warns against using their 1.5 small pistol primers in 357 Magnum cartridges regardless of powder used.

"Special Note:

  • These primers are NOT recommended for loading high pressure loads such as 357 Mag, 357 Sig or 40 S&W. Please consult a Reputable Loading Manual for loading data."

and instead recommend using their 5.5 small pistol primers for 357 Magnum cartridges regardless of powder used

I have loaded thousands of 357 with CCI 500 primers, at least 12# of Bullseye and 1# of 2400 and have had no problems. I have never bought a magnum primer.
