Its been a few years since I reloaded. So I am asking when using corn cob media, do you tumble with the primers in or out? Thanks

Over the years I've done my tumbling many different ways (never wet tumbled though)

I've settled on primers out in fine walnut media (20lb box from Harbour Freight) with a capful or 2 of Nu-Finish car polish and a couple of cut up used dryer sheets to keep down dust.

IMHO, walnut cleans, corn cob polishes (it also absorbes sizing lube very well after sizing)

Hope this helps.

I'm a memebr on the "in" crowd. Carbide dies, so no lube to clean off after can help no?....

Seems to me that, for the most part, people who decap before tumbling are either dealing with really dirty range brass, or just really crazy about shiny brass. Everyone else tumbles and the decaps, to avoid media in flash holes if nothing else.

both. brass gets dry tumbled with primers, and then I'll tuble again as a last step before loading to remove any sizing lube.

I tumble with the primers in for my hand gun brass and then this gets reloaded.
Range pick up brass for the ar gets wet cleaned then resized on the app press then tumbled in walnut to remove lube.
If it's 223 from my bolt gun it gets a quick dry tumble primers in then to the app.

I often do both, tumble primers in first go around. Then it's sizing, trimming/chamfer, primer pocket uniforming, then they go back in for a quick tumble. This is usually done with rifle range brass that needs a little extra TLC.

I dry tumble first with the primers in to get the cases clean. Then lube and resize. Lastly tumble with the primers out to remove the lube and polish the cases.

When I dry tumbled only I left the primers in to avoid getting media in the flash holes. Now I wet tumble and remove the primers so the primer pockets get cleaned as well. I dry tumble finished ammo with NuFinish for a short while to clean off the lube and stop the ammo from tarnishing.

I’ve been lightly lubing my cases even when using carbide dies. Sizing is so much quicker and slicker.

So, I still need to clean the cases.

I usually tumble cases after the primer is removed. Regardless what is determined to make better reloads, primer in or out, it makes me feel better about my reloads if the primer pocket gets some cleaning.

If the cases are dirty before sizing, I’ll clean the cases with the primer in.

Wet tumbling for me is always done after sizing so “primer out”.

Both, lol. First cleaning with primers.....then roll size, then lube, then decap, trim (if bottle neck), and size, then long tumble to clean trim debri, and case lube, then load. When I load, I do use a universal decap to clear any debris from firing pin hole, but I do not run a sizing die, so I can load without any lube. I do run an M die to expand case mouth enough for the MBF to work reliably.

I always de-prime all of my cases before tumbling. The range I go to is an old clay pit so cases get dirty. I also tumble with a 50/50 mix of corn cob and walnut media.
