My "new" Model 3913 came with one 8-round magazine. I was wondering if anyone could post a pic of their 3913 with a Pro-Mag 10-rounder in it.
I'd probably stick with the original (factory, I guess) one in the pistol for carry, with a couple of the larger ones for spares. (After I do the BA/UU/R with them, of course. I've seen some mixed reviews of Pro-Mags on Midway's site, so I'll make sure the pistol, mags, and ammo all play nice together.)

Those that have tried 'em, do you swear by them or at them? :p

Thanks for any info.

Robo,

I only have experience with a couple magazines by ProMag. My Mini-14 seems to hate just about any aftermarket Hi-cap magazine EXCEPT for the ProMag that's in it now. It's been 100% flawless and I intend to stock up on these! I also have a standard 13rd ProMag in my FEG Hi-Power clone, and it's OK. Occasionally, it gives me FTF issues (maybe three instances out of a couple hundred rounds), but I feel it's not quite broken in yet? Also, when it's loaded up, it rattles and makes all kinds of strange noise when it's shaken. I'm not used to hearing noises like that from a loaded (or unloaded) magazine, so it makes me wonder if something is up.

So, I wouldn't say I swear by them or at them. Perhaps the phrase "your mileage may vary" applies to ProMag.

Ben

Thanks, Ben. That's good to know about Mini-14 mags, since I might go looking for some more of those some day, too. (There's a rather large quantity of .223 still sitting in the ammo can that it was shipped in. That was so long ago, I can't even remember where I bought it. :uhoh: )

I wish Promag would ship to Iran, Syria, and China. That way our military advantage in the arena of small arms would be solidified.

After trying three for as many guns, I'd only wish that brand of magazine on my enemies.

In my experience, the Pro Mags are iffy & that's just not good enough if you're gonna depend on that pistol for your security.

Huh?

Ohhh, okay. You wuz being ironical or something. ;)

Well, based on that and 10-Ring's comment, I think I'll look elsewhere. I've seen high marks for Mec-Gar in another thread, but haven't seen any yet for the 3913.
For around $11 more than for the Pro-Mags, I might just pass up the additional two-rounds-per and get S&W mags.

S&W 908 & 3914 mags will work too...
I kinda thought so, since they're the same configuration, but different finish. Thanks for confirming that.
Mec-Gar makes mags for S&W..
But looking at their site, every one of the four mags listed (10, 15, 17, and 20 rounds) says "S&W M910/M915/59 Series." In spite of having been to the S&W Academy (admittedly almost 30 years ago), I'm no expert, but I understand the 910 and 915 were "economy models" of the 59-series. Since the 59 uses a double-stack mag, and the 3913 is a compact single-stacker, I think we're in "apples and oranges territory" here. If anyone has successfully used a Mec-Gar mag in a 3913 or a very similar model, I'd be happy to hear that.

It occurred to me today that I could try a Pro-Mag, and if it doesn't prove itself throughout lots of trigger time, I could just use it on the range to throw in the occasional "failure drill." :p

Update (1)

I received two 8-round ProMag (SMI02) blue magazines today. Midway would have had to backorder the 10-round (SMI03) ones, so I just went with the eights. It's another sixteen rounds that I didn't have before for the 3913.
I've loaded them up, but that was as far as I got today. I'll be "test-driving" them at the first opportunity.
Visited the manufacturer's site recently, and found out there ain't no hyphen in their name. Live and learn.

To elaborate on my previous post, I've seen pro-mags fail in both single and double stack pistols.

Robo, here's looking forward to your review of the product and I'm hoping I'm 110% wrong.
