I hadn't to a local range for about 6 weeks ( ). In that time they had a guide rod problem w/ their XD's. First, the guide rod broke on their XD 9...after ALOT of rounds & abuse. Apparently, the gun was replaced & the broken one sent back to SA. Then this past weekend, the XD 9 & 357 both experienced guide rod breakage....hmmmm...epidemic? Has anyone heard anything re: XD guide rods?

There is one thread I found http://www.hs2000talk.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=000145#000006
although it's all second hand comments

And you should scroll down & read Insider's comments (I guess at one time he worked for the HS2000 company)

My XD is fine but I have yet to drop it on a hard surface muzzle down. :D ...you know the guide rod extends just a smidge out in front of the gun to discourage the gun from being pushed out of battery when pressing up against something.

I haven't really seen anything on this topic over there...just guys wanting Don's drop in guide rod parts to make their's a race gun.
Thx for the info 10-ring. :)

Broken guide rods are new to me. I've been around the XD forum for 2 years and it hasn't been a problem. Mark
