I just tried some of Cor-Bon's 125 gr. traditional JHP rounds in my Kahr CW9.

Jam...jam....jam....

I've never had a problem in my CW9 with Gold Dots or other Glaser/Cor-Bon designs like Safety Slugs or Pow'R Ball. However, the first thing I noticed was that the mouths on the 125 gr. Cor-Bon JHPs seemed to be a little wider than the Gold Dots or other styles of JHPs I've used. That may have been the problem.

Anyone else had this issue?

Bummer. Usually if you stick with the big three you won't have such problems. Winchester, CCI Speer, and Federal Cartridge soak up all the law enforcement contracts for a reason.

I might add Hornady to that list. I've never had a problem with it. Good stuff.

That's why you should always shoot some of your self defense ammo to make sure it will feed. Some guns are just more picky than others as to what they'll shoot reliably. About the only ammo you'll get near 100% reliability in feeding is FMJ ball ammo.

I carry that same ammo in my G17 and never had a problem. But some guns are picky, good thing you found out that these loads don't work in your pistol BEFORE you needed it!

My Glock 17L loves Corbon JHP's but a 9mm 1911 did not. In addition to feed jams, I also had quite a few pierced primers.

The original Gold Dots did have feeding failures too, but they changed the bullet design to a smaller mouth.

I believe CorBon uses Sierra JHPs in their
Conventional JHP line of ammunition. Instead
of the usual curved ogive to the JHP bullet profile
they are conical FWIW I've done some unscientific
tests in wet magazines stacked & found their
weight retention wanting, as well as lack of penetration.

AND FWIW - It's the Big 4
Speer Gold Dot
Remington Golden Saber
Federal HST
Winchester Ranger/SXT

Rangers are very popular with LEO agencies
and it's what the local city police use where
I live.

I noticed that before I even tried them in the gun. Like I said, it's the only bullet design that has not fed well in my Kahr. Other than that, the gun has been 100% reliable. Other Corbon/Glaser designs, like Safety Slugs and Pow'R Ball, work just fine in the gun due to the polymer ball at the tip.

with so many other good rounds out there to choose from, just pass on that corbon round.. I shoot the powerball and the corbon dpx out of my 9MM with zero issues. But have never fired that exact round that you hve either . I would not consider that an issue what so ever. I also love the 124 gr. golden sabre rounds. . My two kahrs shoot anything that goe sin the pipe...

Once you find the defense round that feeds 100% and does what you want it to do. Just stay with it. Not alot of need to experiment. Shoot a couple boxes at least for reliability , then just find a low priced fmj for paper punching needs. I shoot with zero issues the Wal-mart 100 pak of wwb for $18 with wifes disccount. My PM9 has 16,100 flawless WWB rounds out of it.

Corbon Problems,Me To.

I experienced a jam in my revolver, yes, revolver with Corbon 140 gr. .357mag.
bullet pull was the issue on several of the rounds. Corbon asked me to send the remainder of the box back so they could evaluate them, they also said they would mail me a free box, they never sent the free box and I never bought another product from them nor would I.

Just curious, how much did you pay for the conventional
CorBon JHP ammo?

I buy in bulk from the Sportsman's Guide. I'm also a member of their buyer's club.

If you include shipping into the equation, I spent about $17.50 per box of 20.

Yeah....I love my Kahr, too!

I'd buy another one in a heartbeat. It has the best DA trigger on the market, IMHO. And reliable as heck.

Sigbear,

If you experienced a problem with our ammo and dealt with us through email, that would be me that handled your issue. I don't remember any 357 Mag 140 JHP problems recently. If you made a phone call, then somebody else handled your problem. If it never got satisfied, then someone on our end dropped the ball. I'd like to trace this and figure out the problem here.

If possible, please furnish me with any information you have about this case. Dates, names, emails etc. I'd like to get it rectified.

Thanks,

One thing I have noticed on Corbon 125 grain traditional JHP's is that the overall length is shorter than most typical 9mm loads. That could perhaps cause the magazine to feed to the chamber at higher angle than typical.

I don't use Corbon because I've had feeding problem'swith Corbon in guns that never had feeding problem'.

GDHP, have never failed in anyway shape or form.

Not a promotion or a demotion, just a fact.
