so i had iron clad armory build me a custom bulgarian ak 74 for my wife... i sent them a kit and receiver flat, i finished the wood myself dark purple... i wanted them to put my wifes name and b-day for serial # and our anniversary below that as something special for my wife her own personal ak... they put anniversary but didnt put her name and b-day... which paperwork says is serial #... they sent rifle to my ffl like this... ffl wont release rifle without serial #... ica wont answer phone... or email... or text... secretary no longer works there told me atf investigating and many people suing owner... this sucks...i dont want to ship back im not sure ill ever see wifes ak again... fll trying to see what options avail thru atf... what are my options? thanks, Johnny

I hate to say this brother, but I think you're pretty well screwed. Why don't you do yourself a favor and if you're going to ship it back, strip everything down and just send them the receiver and nothing more. So atleast then it won't be a total loss.

If it has a manufacturer name a model and a serial it can be transferred. If no serial number you can take it apart and keep everything but receiver.

strip the gun and ask notify atf of the problem.ask them if they can issue you a serial number or send them the serial number that you want to engrave on it.wait for the letter and meanwhile, hunt for a trophy shop or gun manufacturer nearby who has an engraver.

the metal was all gun koted with a custom dark purple color... which makes it worse...

Do you have any companies locally that have a firearms manufacturing license? Maybe they could serial it for you if you ask nicely?

If they manufactured a gun for commerce w/o a serial number they are way beyond negligent. I would get forensic on that receiver to make sure there truly isnt a serial number hiding under a paint job.

Tell them to use the serial number on the front trunnion.
